First Grow Ever! Looking for some much-needed reassurance or advice

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by GreenLantern86, Aug 25, 2008.

  1. So this is a closet grow. Height: 7', Width: 10', depth: 2'. Seems like enough space for the 7 plants that I currently have (master kush, btw) but let me know if not. Completely lined with mylar. Ventilation right now is just me opening the door a few times a day so I assume I'll need a fan soon. Right now I'm using a 400W MH bulb and I assume I will add another or two when the plants get bigger. Soil is organic. One thing that I'm worried about is that denver is extremely dry and putting a bowl of water in there isn't helping that much. Not sure what I can do there.

Anyway, I know the pics aren't great but I'm unsure about the orientation of the leaves of some of the plants. It just seems so random. Any advice about how I can improve? I'm on a limited budget. Oh and these pics are 7 days in. Is this where they should be?

Also if anyone's growin in denver and wants to throw some regional advice my way than please hit me up.

    thanks guys

  2. I should also say that currently I have boards covered in mylar that section off the seedlings, since the majority of the closet space isn't needed right now.

  3. im confuzed whats denver lol i know the town denver or w.e and what would a bowl of water be for ?

  4. denver, usa. the bowl is to increase humidity.

  5. ah rite cheers mate

  6. Yeah they're ok. Misting them with a spray bottle every now and then can help with really dry conditions. Do you know what the relative humidity is in there? You're lookin just fine, relax and remember they grew for thousands of years without our help.

  7. Anyone know if this is a burn? It looks like nute burn but it's organic soil (supposedly). Only two of the plants have it right now but a couple others are looking a little yellow. Ideas? Advice? Thanks in advance.

  8. Oh, humidity is at 25%

  9. Does the pack of soil have an NPK rating on it? Or does it say will feed for x amount of weeks?

  10. Damn,

I just looked at the bag and I was wrong. I must have picked up the wrong bag. The one I was looking at definitely didn't have anything in it, maybe I was high. But yeah, it's .20-.10-.10.

So do you think I should just do a transplant now since it's almost that time anyway? And is that what this is? Nute burn?

  11. Yeah 25% is pretty dry, I think ideal for our plants is around 40%. Not positive. So you aren't too too low. And I'm leaning towards pH or nute burn, because I think they're too young to really be getting deficient in anything. The cotyledons are still green. See if your soil pH is off, you're right that it's usually pretty hard to burn a plant with organics. Especially if you aren't even feeding them.

  12. Thanks for all the help KamelRed. As I said in the previous post I realized (like an idiot) that I picked up the wrong bag. So nute burn is looking good. It's getting a bit worse on the two that have it but the others aren't showing any signs except slow growth, really slow growth.

So I think I'll just do my transplant soon with the right soil. Any tips on keeping humidity up. I'm trying my best, like I said I live in denver which is incredibly dry. I have a bowl of water in their and I spray them occasionally but I'm afraid of spraying too much.

  13. high ph can stop your plant growing because it stops the absorbtion of magnesium.
