This is my first grow, Started germination on the 16th of march. Started off with 4 short ryder autos from a reputable seed bank, Put the seeds directly into soaked rock wool cubes (6Ph, 0ppm) into the humidity dome. After a few days in the dark I turned on my T5 bulbs and removed the dome. Recently transferred the plants to the lower chamber under my 150w HPS and more T5 bulbs, with a light dose of micro, grow, bloom ph perfect nutrients and a dab of calmag, currently sitting at 280ish ppm. Before moving the plants I pulled the weakest and am down to 3 plants. Lights: 150w hps and T5s on side Area: 2 x 2 x 5ish Temps: 77-88 Hum: 40-55 W.Temp: 70-73 Cycle: 20/4 A few random pics so far, Im pretty sure I am going to pull the smaller one too, I have a feeling I may have over watered it earlier the roots dont seem to be poking through yet. Ill see if it starts within the next few days, I only plan on having 2 anyways. As you can see I'm currently battling high temps, Might do a few modifications to the cabinet soon. Thinkin of cutting a hole in the back bottom and adding a fan to draw air into it, I've also started adding cold bottles to the res to bring the water temp down and a ml of hydroguard. I have also been looking into LEDs as I think I could lower both problems, BlackStar 240UV, or either platinum 150 or the 300 series, the 300 might be too much for the space though? The smaller ones, and the right side of cabinet in the pics are not my plants, theyre afghan autos about a week behind my shorties. Shortly after taking the pics I decided to pull the small one, no roots, and hasnt looked different in over a week, tired of top feeding it. The other 2 look good? I think still growing maybe a tad discolored roots on the one. Also been checking the ppm daily, Should they not start eating seems as the ppm increase so they're only drinking water?
I would have PPM's no higher than 125/150 at this point. If your PPM is going up it's like you thought and they are only drinking water and not wanting the high feed levels you have. This opens the door for nute burn.
I had a feeling it was high as everything I read recommends 150 ppm near start. I cut the measurements in half of what was the recommended dose of seedling on the instructions and still ended up with 260 before the calmag. I checked the tds today and they seem to be eating now, dropped down to 258 over night. Im going to keep a close eye on them till res change. Also getting tired of using bottled water to keep temps low and still cant break 71 during lights on.
Res Change Day 23 from seed, Water temps have been doing abit better, still high sitting at a constant 70, Ironed out most my issues and have already learned from a few mistakes. 6ml micro, grow, and bloom. 2ml of hydroguard and calmag. LED should be here monday and i'll swap the hps out and hope to minimize my temps all round. I believe I may have Mag or Calcium deficency in one plant as the one leaf started to shrivel and turn a rusty color. Also spray burned my plants from spraying a few times shortly before lights on.
Lack of updates due to being busy hoping to keep better details online of my next grow, but some quick pics. Day 40 Swapped for a LED weeks ago, pulled a carbon filter fan and switch it to draw air into the cab to battle temp, been sitting at optimal environment for almost 2 weeks now, Didn't think they would make it at one time due to numerous issues on my part, Grow was just to iron out all the cab issues which I believe I finally have. Still unsure of these nute, as I dont really like not 'caring' bout the Ph or ppm, but so far so good as long as im mixing at recommend dose, otherwise these seem to be light on the P&K. I may try the technaflora line next grow as i have a sample pack already kicking bouts.
