First grow, day 8, question

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by zombiesnweed, Oct 9, 2011.

  1. So for my plant I've been using 2 6500k cfls at 60w a piece. I found 2 3500k 125w bulbs in my garage. The box said "daylight" so whatever. I've heard during veg you wanna stay in the blue spectrum but these lights are a little more towards red. I hooked up all 4 bulbs with splitters. Will the extra light help? Or should I take them down cause theyr 3500k ?

    How much tho?

  13. What kind of soil are you using? ....and hell no, don't give it nutes, it's a seedling. When the very first set of leaves turns yellow, start using nutes sparingly.

Your soil sets you up for the rest of your grow. I consider lime to be a necessary additive to all soils, but some growers swear they don't need it. Rare is the first harvest that used out-of-the-bag soil and recommended nutrient doses only. Whether or not you should start adding this mystery nutrient to that mystery soil is a matter for you to deal with, unless you can provide us with your specific grow conditions, that is.

Do you have access to Foxfarm Ocean Forest?

  14. its less than 40 and its [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Recipe-Success-Starter-Fertilizer-Kit/dp/B0001XGP32/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1318193585&sr=1-1]Amazon.com: Recipe for Success Starter Fertilizer Kit: Home & Garden[/ame]
its good for soil and hydro and nice cloning gel

  15. my soil i made myself its 2 parts moss one part sand and one part pearlite, with organic miracle grow. i watched some youtube vid and did it. the edges of like 1 leaf and right where the stem first opened turned yellow. (like those little folds that open at first). i assumed it was ventilation cause i did have it in a closed cabinet. but now its in my closet with the doors open and the fan running.

  16. OK 2 parts peat, one part sand, one part perlite, and ... you mixed it in 1:1 with MG organic garden soil? Did the video mention powdered dolomite lime? It's essential.

PS. I've used a similar mix, with blood/bonemeal, etc.

  17. He didn't say anything about lime I don't think. Should I add some ? Or wait till I transplant again

  18. You can wait, but if your plants show deficiencies you should add it immediately because it takes a few weeks to take effect.

If you top-dress with lime, use 30 ml, or 2 tablespoons per gallon of soil. Loosen the top layer with a fork and work in the lime. Pat it down and throw some soil over that to keep it from drying out and not working.

Definitely mix it in with your next transplant @ 1 cup per cubic ft of soil.

I'll most definitely do that Tommorow. I have 4 other seeds germed almost ready for dirt so I'll get it right for them
