This is my first grow. I learned everything I could before growing so that i might have the best results. I am growing Cush A.K.A. Green Crack. I bought two clones from a local dispensary. Right now my plants are in the final stages of veg. They are in 3 gallon buckets with fox farm ocean forrest mix. They are under 4- 6500k cfl bulbs with 2 18 inch flourescent tubes attached to the back of my grow box. I am basically using a stealth grow box with the cfl's due to lower costs and space constraints. I am pretty sure everything is going well but i would greatly appreciate any feedback and comments on my first grow. These pictures are from the past few days i will post more shortly. Do you guys think i should put the babies into flowering or veg them more?
Expect your plants to roughly double in size when you switch to flowering. I can not see your vertical clearance in the pics too well. Hopefully this will give you a goof idea of when you can switch.
I grew some GC and it only took 7 weeks flowering to finish, so I liked that. Your plants seem to be stretching, you might want to get some cheap bamboo stakes and brace them up now. Goodluck, they look nice!
IMO i would put a lot more light in there(double or triple the amount you have now). I would also put the light a little closer to the plants. looks healthy though good job man.
Like grn said, you will definitely be much happier with the end result if you get some more light in there
yeah bro you def wanna put them in flowering time. you might even wanna look into throwing in some soft white cfls in there because the 2700k light is better for flowering. i'd keep those tubes and maybe even 2 of the daylight CFLs, but throw two soft whites in, and be prepared for rapid growth haha. you might also wanna prepare for a temp change, soft white makes it a little warmer in there. great set up dood love the pics throw more up often brah!
Thank You all for taking interest in my grow op. Seriously tho thanky you. SO a little update on the Cush babies. Sadly i woke up this morning and noticed little white dots on the tops of my larger plants leaves. WIth the reading of this site i have realized that i have spider mites. I have seen the mites crawling on the under side of the leaves so i know i have these pesky little buggers. I was going to start flowering today but i am going to have to wait until i get rid of these guys. I have gotten a mild non anti bacterial soap mixed with luke warm water and applied the solution to the under side of all the leaves. I have also lightly misted the plants with the same solution. I also went to my local hobby store and bought sticks to support the plants so they dont lean over. I was going to add more light today but with the spider mites i think that would help those bastards multiply. Any ideas/ suggestions on that? I was thinking if i add 6 more 2700k lumen lights and keep the 2-18'' tubes and two of the 6500k bulbs that would be enough light for flowering. I need some suggestions on this one and if that isnt enough would i be ok to add the 6 when i start flowering and then add a few more after about 2 weeks. i am just working and a bi weekly budget so i have to think ahead. Again thanks for viewing and i cant wait to here all your good advice. Look back for more pics when the "sun" comes up ill take some more.
Spider mites are pesky little bastards. I've heard that ladybugs are a great addition to help with pests like those although you should double check because im not entirely sure. If you ask at the hydro shop they should have some knowledge on what other options there are out there. It doesn't really matter when you add more lights, lights are great at anytime (preferably the right spectrum). Adding the lower spectrum would be great, but do make sure you get all problems dealt with before you flower.
Yes, ladybugs are clutch for fecking spider mites. They don't hurt your plants, they're good for soil, and they are red raping death on spider mites. Also when they're all gone the lady bugs die off, only cleanup is a dustbuster and 3 minutes. The great advantage is you don't put chemicals on your plants; the disadvantage is they take a little longer longer to work since a ladybug is usually less toxic than your average industrial poison. Another good one is Final Answer, made of natural botanicals (mostly peppermint i think) that kills bugs pretty well. Either way give yourself an extra week or two of veg after the mites are gone so your ladies can bounce back. Toke
you could also tie some washers to each main stalk and "work" it out for the additional weight its going to put on over the next 2 months. thats what i did on my first grow. it also works as a LST method
