  1. Hi everybody im a beginner that needs help. I have a 4'x2'x9' closet to work with. Ill be growing in soil. Where I live is warm/hot tropical climate.
How much ventilation do I need? How much veg and flowering light do I need? Do i need an a/c? Do i need Co2? How many plants can i fit?
This is a list of supplies i have.
    180cfm blower
    rotating fan
    20" box fan
    50' mylar
    temp/humid gauge
    25' ducting for blower
    pots, dirt, nutes, garden supplies
What else do i need? Suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Lost???

  2. High there, why not check out the journals section and see what other people are running with? I wouldn't bother using CO2 unless its a proper setup and that can be costly. When my CO2 rig went down I never replaced it and the results without it are almost exactly the same.

    Good luck

  3. Thanx for the input. Good tip about the co2. Ive read the journals exstensively before posting. Couldnt find similar size closet. I could use more of ur advice?

  4. Well I still think you need to do more reading buit here is my 0.2 cents

How many plants you can fit will depend alot on strain and grow method also how long you veg them for. I'd just start with one or 2 plants to test your setup and help you choose how many plants and at what size. Also my temps are all over the place during the seasons so you might need an A/C unit and a heater for winter, again you will have to test your setup to find out.

For soil I believe that foxfarm or happy frog are the best but I can't get either over here so I have to make do, mixing my own and adding perlite. With nutes pretty much the same rules, I use bio-bizz because thats what I can get here, also I think they do a groovy job.

I like to have fresh air in and exhaust the air out through a carbon filter, you will need some form of odor control no doubt once you hit flowering.

  5. 25' of ducting is a lot for a 180cfm fan with a 72 cu.ft. grow space, especially in a "hot/tropical" climate. You may want to think about a more powerful fan. GL!

  6. thanx good advice. Could I use fluorescent start to finish and get a descent yield?

  7. Thanx for the advice. What would be adequate ventilation for 72 cubic ft?

  8. T5 floros are groovy from start to finish on some of the grows that I have seen, maybe ad some cfl's to. The more light the better when it comes to flowering time

  9. How much cfm does 72 cubic ft require? Would a 400 watt cooltube be good? Sorry for all the questions.

  10. Sorry dude, I saw that question and Im just not the dude to answer that. I'd love a cooltube but for now Im running an uncooled 600w HPS. Also I do use CFM fans but I don't have a clue what size they are anymore

  11. Cool. What size is ur grow space? How many vents and fans do u have?

  12. On paper, your 180cfm fan would be enough for ventilating your space (CO2 replenishment). My concern is with your likely heat issues. 25' feet of ducting adds a lot of static pressure which will reduce your fan's cfm capacity significantly. You may only be pushing 100 cfm's or less. This may not be enough air flow to keep your grow space temps down when it's hot. Is the 180cfm fan a 4". If you haven't already bought it, I'd suggest a 6" vortex-style blower with 6" ducting and a fan speed controller to dial the flow for the best temp control and minimum noise. A big fan with big ducting turning slowly makes a lot less noise than a small fan and ducting, and will last longer.

A 400w HPS would be great for your space - almost 7000 lumens per sq.ft. Air cooling the light will help out a lot. You can use a single fan to cool the light and ventilate your space or use 2 separate fans - one for the hood/cool tube and one for the space.

  13. That is groovy advice, tried to plus rep you for it but GC says I have given out to much in the last 24hrs

  14. Thanx man. Could i use the 180cfm 4" blower and a 6" fan on the light and be cool enough? What if I added an a/c? Yeah I bought all the things on that list. Temp here is between 80 and 90.

  15. Yeah, that's a proven solution. But, do whatever is cheaper/easier first (maybe you can get a a/c unit cheaper than another fan?). Then take it from there. GL!

  16. check out my grow. its about as bare bones/low budget as it gets
