    fixing pictures.

    Hello everyone!

Excited to be on my way to my first grow!

I am using a CFL closet grow setup. I have around 17000 lumens total. Running both 2700k and 6500k. Still plan on upgrading to a better light system when my budget will allow it. Using miracle gro organic. Germinated 6 bag seeds in a paper towel and planted them last wednesday. All sprouted except one on friday. It was growing into the ground and when i attempted to reorient it i killed it. oops. Anyways im running a 24/0 cycle and they are looking rather healthy except for one which seems to be a runt or something.

    Pictures!

    High All!
Hmm, no one has really even seen this post so i hope this update brings a few more people around.

I upgraded my lights again. I now have 8 26 watt 6700k and 1 42 watt 2700k CFLs. Around 20,000 lumens or something or the other. I got my survival blanket hung up now and this room is really friggin bright. I have been having trouble keeping the temperature steady since i can't cut for exhaust ports. So i found that leaving the door cracked an inch or so kept the temps around ~80. Much better than the 96 degrees i saw when i woke up the other day..

Anyways, all is going good. I transplanted into 1 gallon containers with plenty of holes and slots cut into the bottoms for drainage. No real problems so far except for one. Two of my largest plants are exhibiting some twisting on some of their leaves, there is no browning, burning, drooping, drying out or anything like that. I backed my lights off a few inches to make sure that they aren't causing the problem. I have been watering every 2-3 days or whenever the soil gets pretty dry. I like to stick my finger in the soil a few inches to get a feeling before i even think of watering. (scared of over watering) I heard it may be a pH problem but i do not have access to a meter until i finish classes later on today and i can borrow my friends.

Also, the runt seems to be catching up, anyone know what makes a plant do that? And i have access to fox farms ferts. when would it be a good idea to begin feeding these babies? They will be two weeks old from when they broke the dirt this coming friday.

  4. hello everyone. Feel like I am talking to myself but i see some views on here so i will keep posting.

Ran into some problems recently. Two biggest plants starting showing some kind of stress. transplanted into larger 4 or 5 gallon pots in MG organic. i think they were getting rootballed. They got transplanted and watered and are now much perkier.

I am having another newer problem though. It only exists on the smaller plants still in their old pots. appears as some sort of deficiency but whatever it is its definetely not healthy. i finally got a ph meter and checked my tap and runoff. my tapwater was around an 8... yikes. i have been watering it adjusted water around a 6.5-6.8. i water just enough for drainage every 2 or 3 days. could it be root rot from poor drainage? i dont think it is. i have clear bottoms on my pots and can not see any browning or excess moisture. all seem to be healthy white. i have fox farms grow big but have only used 1 quarter dose. plants are going on 3 weeks old this friday.

also! i have come across some autoflowering ak47/white widow seeds from a friend. i started one as a little side project. still have a bunch to use on my second grow.

    here are some pics!

if you guys can help me out with diagnosing the problem with the smaller plants that would be awesome. thanks!

This is the best place to look for deficiencies/toxicities. The Complete guide to Sick Plants,pH, and Pest troubles! - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

Remember after about 2-4 weeks, the soil loses its ability to maintain nutrient supply and you'll have to start fertilizing it.

Keep the pH around 5.5-6.5 is actually best for MJ I've read.

I think you're having nute burn as your problem. It's just a guess, check into it. I'd flush the soil with 2-4x the capacity of the container so that it takes out all the nutrients, then add your proper nutes back in with a corrected pH solution.

EDIT: Could've been the temps too. The plant wants around room temp usually not more than 85 probably. They CAN survive at higher temps but require watering more often and that messes with the nutrient cycles.

  8. lately i have had the temps under control. staying around 78-81 degrees. the nute burn possibility puzzles me. they have been hardly fertilized. i did flush all the pots last night and saw an improvement but it still looks like the spots are spreading on the smaller plants

  9. miracle gro blows...fox farms ocean forest or kill yaself

  10. pay to ship soil to myself or drive to buffalo. its not the preferted shit. its organic.

  11. so i found my problem. think its bugs... :(

i have some symphilids and i believe some type of flies. getting pesticide tommorow. the two biggest ones don't seem to have any. but the three that are showing symptoms do. going to get a bt pesticide tommorow...

    hope it works.

  12. When I first got my first soil, it was miracle gro, and I noticed before I planted it that there was a ton of larvae in it. It was absolutely disgusting lol. The next day I got some FoxFarm and that soil didn't have any flies or bugs in it. One of the good ways to kill them is to supposedly put an inch or 1/2inch of sand on top of the layer of soil because they are supposed to thrive in moist soil.

  13. wish i wasn't lazy and would have picked up the good soil meh.

still having trouble finding a BT pesticide.. plants look worse..
ive looked at ace, home depot, lowes, walmart, kmart, and a local garden shop with no luck at all. about to make the 1.5 hour drive to a hydro shop to pick up some pesticide and 150 watt hps...

    we will see what happens.

  14. Did you try to post it in the sick plants? i hope you get your plants back to normal.

  15. yes i did. its the damn bugs but the damn pesticide is the hard part to find. especially during winter.

  16. Yeah i know what you mean. my plants are growing great, if you have time check it out. good luck getting rid of those bugs. just toke up and relax :smoking:

  17. how big is your closet?? im about to grow in mine and will have a similar setup:smoking:

  18. Hey man,I'm tuned in.

As far as the soil, I know how you feel. I had to pay good money to get my Ocean Forrest shipped, cause I can't get it localy. It will cost extra, but will save you much troubles, and provide premium results.

If those plants keep getting worse, flush the soil again and just start doing nutes yourself. But watch out for them to be overwatered pretty soon with all the flushing. Also I wanted to mention always look towards the new growth for signs of recovery. The old stuff (on the bottoms) will almost always just shrivel up and die once it gets the slightest bit messed up. So yeah just look at the top of the new stuff and see whether or not that's green and then you'll know if its correcting. Things often take a day or two to correct.

Miracle Gro (whether its Organic or not) is loaded with ferts and can cause nute burn (especially with the addition of nutes before the typically 2-3 weeks it takes Miracle Gro to use up its own nutrients). I think it may be worth it if they don't self-correct soon. Usually the gnats don't harm it, they're just annoying. But if you can't find pesticide do an inch of "play sand" on top because the play sand dries out fast and the gnats will die. They love moist soil and they only live in topsoil so you're basically eliminating their playground. Let us know how it goes.

  20. late night update..

bored and just toked so i thought i'd make an update.
i believe i solved my bug problem. i snagged some neem oil and it worked wonders over the last couple days. cant even find a single bug anymore. its interesting the way the stuff works. messes with their hormones so they forget to eat and reproduce. anyway the plants look great. i had a friend recommend i tie em down. so i started lst and they are really looking great. the dwarf is still well behind for some reason. got a lot of good looking bud sites on the larger of the two plants. have fed twice with full strength grow big with neem oil and ph adjusted.

also i ordered a 150 watt hps from htgsupply. just gotta figure out ventilation.

    here are the pics.
