First Actual Purchase

    I made my first purchase on an expensive bong, costing me $85 after some haggling with the Korean smoke-shop owner, lol. I have a few concerns with it, though. When I try to hit and clear it, it seems to have a lot of drag, meaning it takes twice as long to clear the entire bong of smoke. In the picture below, you can see the exact bong, I'm curious as to what might cause this issue with being so hard to hit. My first thought was that the hole in the bowl-piece is too small to bring a solid air-flow through, but I've had other people bring up the coil-style percolator might be the issue.

    My last question has to do with the coil-percolator, how much water should I be putting in? I currently have it at half, but can't seem to find the "sweet spot."

    spiral percs are smooth and look nice, but the down side is yes they drag quite a bit. As to how much you should fill it, depends on how you like it. Do some tests :smoke:

    i wouldn't have paid over 60 for that. But i guess it looks cool, i'm not really into non-name brand class, i'm caught up in the materialistic aspect of it.

    Blow into the bong through the top and fill the perc from the top. I have 3 percs in my bong and when you blow into it you force all the other water down into the chamber where your downsteam is, some should remain in the perc. That is the sweet spot. At least thats how it is in mine.

    EDIT: Whoever said perc bongs have drag no matter what that is not the case. I have 3 stacked dome percs in my bong, it has no drag whatsoever if the water levels are filled right the first time. I also have a pre-cooler and whatnot. Smoke hits water 5 times before I inhale it, all without any drag whatsoever. It just has to do with the quality of your pieces.

    I might do a milk-vid with some bubble hash after awhile, still trying to get this bong situated properly. I blew down into the perc and it filled the coil up with water, but the water will just drain out back into that area around halfway, as well as the extra water running down into the beaker-area, so I guess that's the sweet spot. And yeah, I may have overspent on the bong, it was a spur of the moment type of deal. I probably should've did a little bit of research before such a big purchase.

    I used to have a bong with a 5-stem percolator rather than this, and that one was a champion when it came to milky hits. I like the fact that this bong gives really smooth hits (especially with ice), but I prefer getting all the smoke at once, rather than sitting here for 10 seconds, more or less, trying to clear the bastard.

    kinda hard to see you clear it since the top portion is "iced"...seemed alright to me, try messing around with the water levels.

    Yeah, I'm not sure how I exactly feel about the "iced" top, I prefer to see my hits. Here's a picture of my old, better bong.

    My bong looks just like that except mines orange. Mines a 10arm tree percs, how many were on that beast? It looks sick

    It had six, plus the downstem had the slits in it for diffusing, or whatever the proper term is. I miss that bong, sadly, my friend broke it.

    What people said about the spiral percs having more drag is true. I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I feel like the more filters and stuff you have, the more time you'll need to spend clearing it.

    Yeah the diffused makes a world of difference. And Damn I'm sorry to hear of its fate

    It happens, but it's kind of funny that it's never my fault. I've never broken a piece, but I have dropped my steamroller several times.

    I kind of feel stupid, due to the fact that I could've bought the EXACT SAME bong as my old green one, but it was like half the size (1 foot or less), and it had an additional ash-catcher. Worst part about it is, that one is cheaper than the one I purchased. Consumer mistakes, meh.

    Looks like a very nice bong. Very nice spiral pers and a nice sized bowl. A pretty good sized base for water and also nice ice catchers. Definitly worth the 85.

    Cardinals are legit, mainly because I have a friend who moved to Tuscon. Gotta support the Seahawks though, they're local. :p

    And yeah, it works pretty well, I'm happy with it. I'm just used to getting all my smoke at once, resulting in a hardcore coughing fit.

    DUDE! my girlfriend bought me the exact same bong for my birthday! it drags like a bitch. but my cousin gave me a turbo slider, unfortunately, the bowl that came with the bong doesn't fit the new slider :(. so i have to (eventually) go buy a new bowl. i still love it the way it is though :)

    Haha, yeah, I definitely plan on making a stop at the smoke-shop eventually to buy a new slider, and probably an ash-catcher, hopefully that will give it less drag.
