i want to now the fire risks, having a 600w hps lamp in grow tents.
is it dangerous if it gets to close to the tent material?
how can i avoid the possibility of heat spots when im away(job, adducation, vacation)?

    thanks for your time ;)

  4. oh yea. sorry. im kinda hi.

the risk of a 600w would be the same risk of having a fist sized piece of molten lava *on a 'safety' stick* that emits radioactive waves that burn your skin if you get too close but that is nice and warm from a distance.

in otherwords, you cant let it get close enough to anything that can potentially burn. thats why most buy a metal reflector. it reflects the light and the heat. that way you can have stuff above the hotassed light and your babies well beneath the heatpoint threashold point :smoke:

i thought you deserved a well explained answer after i chuckled at you spl mistake :smoke:

dang dude! chillax. it took me almost 15 minutes to write the correct answer. im just poking fun at your spelling error. i make mistakes all the time. in no way am i a spelling nazi. *or any other kind of nazi*

    no harm meant bro.

  6. hehe.. dust of your shoulder ;)

im danish, thats the answer to my spelling error.

thanks for the info. using a reflector even cooltube i thought it couldt bring heatspots and enlarge the risks of fire?

  7. If you put the bulb in an aircooled hood with a lens and adequate cooling the hood will be cold to the touch, the lens will be the hottest surface open to contact and that should not get anywhere near hot enough to combust anything in your tent.

Assuming your electrical is proper and everything hanging in your tent is secure and wont come crashing down.. the risk should be very small, at this point the highest risk would be blowing a bulb and since its sealed in a metal/glass hood I dont think thats much of a worry either.

Unless u leave a magnifying glass in there pointed at a pile of oily rags there is no way in hell your light is just going to spontaneously combust anything in your tent just from shining a lil light on it.

  8. thats what i needed. thanks for your answers guys :smoke:

(( the willingness to grow ))
    :devious:

  9. Dude there is always a danger when using high wattage lamps and ballast. Keep away from tent material as best you can and cool your hood if you can. Also check this, this gives me mental piece o mind I need. I no longer constantly worry about fires as much as I used.

Also for added piece of mind, I have my schedule matching my work schedule to come on right after I get home and it shuts off right before I get up during flowering. Veg is a bit different as it comes on when I get home and runs for a few hours after I leave in the morning.

The flame defender eased my mind A LOT!!!!
