Finding a job as a felon.

  1. Sup GC,

Ive been lurking these forums long enough to feel like I know you all personally, but I never really had a reason to make an account and post until now. My question is... How do you find a job with a felony on your record? Im asking because I recently chose to steal from WalMart. I realize this was a stupid choice and it goes against all morals I have. But anyways, I was arrested and will possibly be recieving my first felony. Any advice will truly be appreciated. Thanks guys. I really dont know who else to ask.

  2. wow bro you need check yourself before you wreck it. Learn from your mistakes bro its your fault. May luck be ever in your favor.

  3. Dude. I understand that. And I realize there will be consequences to pay. How about you read, comprehend, and then reply. This is nothing im proud about.

  4. All you can do is tell them you have a felony and hope they hire you.

  5. May I ask what you stole from walmart to make it a felony??
My only advice is to apply at fast food places and gas stations.

The gas station I work at, the manager is a former felon, and a close friend of mine who also works there still has an aggravated assault on his record

  6. Id rather not speak on the details if you dont mind, but it was along the lines of returning items without a reciept. Thanks for the advice btw man :)

  7. Youre gonna have to go walter white and become a drug lord.

  8. you made ends meet and you finds whatever you can do that pays the best most people with a felony on their personal record are unemployable by alot of companies

  9. Try Mom and Pop places first. They're most likely to hire you and be more forgiving of your past.

Don't let anyone or anything discourage you. I spent two years in prison thinking I would never achieve much more than minimum wage.

Assert yourself, and things will begin to sort themselves out.

  10. Thanks for the advice and inspiration guys. Im hoping ill be able to get this all settled soon enough. There may be a chance for me to get it dropped to a misdimeanor. Fingers crossed!

  11. must have been a good amount of money

  12. If you don't have any priors and are reasonably apologetic, it most likely will just be dropped to a misdemeanor unless you scammed them out of a lot, on several occasions.

  13. It was around 200 dollars. And this is my first arrest for anything.

  14. If im not mistaken it is pretty hard to get a job as felon, not to say you can't though, best bet is just to apply to several different places, do some research online and see what places will hire felons

  15. $200? I think you'll be alright man, as long as they see youve learned your lesson. Curious though how old are you and what state? Feel free not to answer, I just think that would alter the sentence

  16. I'd say there's a pretty good chance they'll drop it down to a misdemeanor.

  17. Awwwwwwwwwwwww, I read the title as "finding a job as a falcon."

    Damn. I am disappoint.

  18. Felony or misdemeanor aside, you're going to be put on a black list for being a thief, so you got bigger problems dude.

Your best bet would be to talk to someone in management or hiring right after you submit an application, talk them up and eventually say that you recently got caught stealing shit. Now here's where you gotta make up some bullshit story about doing it so you can feed your orphan brother and sister or help pay for your grandma's operation. It doesn't really matter as long as you get the point across that you had good intentions. You can say that now you're in a shittier situation and this job is your last hope, whatever, lay it on as thick as you think they'll buy.

Of course, if you go work at some place that does shady business or just doesn't give a fuck, none of this will matter. Or get a good lawyer.

  19. I am going to have a lawyer, yes.

  20. I didnt think it became a felony until $250? I'm sure you'll be fine man. If it is a felony you just gotta apply for everything, hopefully get a low level job, and work your way up
