Fimming and Topping Questions???

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by EuphoricNoni, Jan 5, 2007.

  1. Well I read Dierwolf's tutorial on fimming and topping yet I thought it was kinda vague a little on what exactly fimming does.

So as far as topping goes, you cut the main stem from the new growth during the vegetating stage after the 3rd leaf set right? What that does is it creates two shoots coming out of the top instead of one ultimately creating two colas instead one unless your LST'ing which creates many colas correct?

Now does Topping create a shorter plant since your cutting of the main stem or when it creates the Y sign, its actually two main stems?

Now with fimming, from what I can comprehend, you cut 80% of the new growth which creates 4 shoots instead of one???

Sorry about the questions, appreciate any help guys, thanks.

  2. Dude you just answered your own uestions

  3. Any second opinions. I really doubt I answered my questions especially about the Fimming part, would appreciate any help, thanks.

  4. Topping is a straight cut, thus creating the two colas. FImming is done , very close to the last new growth creating 2 colas, but giving the appearance of 4 new sprouts i believe. I don't really see the difference, except fimming creating shorter nodes than topping does.

  5. No man, you really did answer your own questions. Just do it and find out.

  6. I believe that fimming causes more tops because you are really topping the very early stages of two new nodes -- the next node and the very beginnings of the one that will follow. So from that will come forth four or even more tops.

So it really is the same, just different.

  7. forget what i said, go with toasty's explanation, i'm new to topping and fimming and just started out with it all. Cheers
