Quick question for ya guys. I fimmed my plant bout 5 days ago and want to switch to 12/12 in about 3 days. Giving it a lil over a week to recooperate from the stress. Now the apical meristem is looking good(split into about 4 tops) but not all quite there yet Still small. Should I wait till it grows into actual branches or do you think itll be ok to just flip the lights now? Thanks fellows!
It should still take the plant a few days if not a week to start showing flowers so I'd say switching over now would be okay. Those little branches will keep growing until then.
Go ahead and flip.............she'll take a week at least before any real flower production starts. peace B
if you are trying to make an evn canopy keep training the branches so that they are all even and when the canopy is even flip it whatever is un even will stay un even cuz when you flip the stretch will keep the plants at the exxact same distance they are now since they all grow the same rate
The main reason for the FIM is because I wanted more tops and to increase the yield of course. I'm not worried bout height or even canopy or anything. The only thing I'm really worried about is the 4 tops right now don't look like tops, they look like stubs. So what I'm thinkin is if I start flowering are they even gonna be colas? They don't look like it so that's all I'm wondering. I kno it's gonna be a few weeks before they develop flowers but I'm jut hoping that'll be enough time for them to start acting as if main colas hopefully this makes sense =\
They look like stubs? Maybe a pic would help? Is there any new growth? I tried a FIM once and it took like 1-2 weeks before I actually noticed the new growths coming in.
ok dude you know colas make the fattest bud so when you fim the objective is to make a even canopy with the most tops you can( maximizing yield) cuz lower buds dont get as fat as the top buds come on bro how can you say you dont wanna make the canopy even if you didnt why did you fim
I FIM'd because I wanted more top colas? Makes perfect sense. Im not bound to height issues or anything like that "bro"...
ok buddy you obviously are not understanding so go ahead finish your grow and you will know what i was talkkin about your obviously lost on what im sayin k buddy or should i say bro
Nice run-on sentence...yes I am lost to what u r saying, I understand the top colas will all be pretty much the same height and the lower budsite will be, well lower. There is nothing in my post saying "I do not want an even canopy" I simply said Im not worried about that... ANYWAYSSSS.. Here is the FIM'd top. Best pictures I could get.
Lol sorry i did not know we were in English class. Is this better for you? Do my punctuation's seem correct? ANYWAYS ill keep it simple COLAS MAKE FAT BUD EVEN CANOPY = MORE DENSE COLAS, LESS POPCORN NUGS UNEVEN CANOPY = FEW DENSE COLAS, MORE POPCORN NUGS make sense?? and enough with all the dick talk im just tryin to help
def grow them out a bit otherwise they will be blocking each other for light...i had the same issue...i fimmed and my plant was put into flowering to early..my yeild was poor because no light could get into the canopy with all the stupid tops covering the rest of the plant
Allright allright, thanks for the help. So wht do ya think from the pictures? Do you think if I flip the lights they'll grow out and be some nice colas? Or should I let em veg for a lil while longer?
well as soon as you flip your light the plant will be the exact same looking with just a different ratio ( plant gets bigger) so when all the tops are even is usually wanna flip i usually veg til all my colas are even i like to think of it as scrog with no screen and sog without alot of plants it workss well and ok well i usually top and when i do i cut off all the orignal fan leaves (off main stem ) always helps all the lower ones get up top but if your paranoid about cutting you can try to tuck the big original fan leaves
Thanks for all the help guys, even you TexasToker. =] Guess Ill let her veg a bit longer till I got some nice colas/branches and flip it.
good decision! if this particular strain you are growing does not stretch much at the onset of flower like many indicas it will not be individual colas and might not grow enough to the point they will all be clumped together and block light for the entire plant...this is what happened to my plant that had 4 partially grown colas...bottom of the plant is wispy and none of the tops developed like they should or had the potential to. A little extra veg time should increase your yeild
