Filming Police

  1. So one of my cousin's was illegally* searched and then railroaded by the judge. Fucking pukes. And when he asked for the video tapes of that night, he keeps being detoured by the police.

This has me considering keeping a cheap digital camera in my glove box and filming police whenever a stop escalates past a ticket. Can I do this? I just don't want a cop and his dog 'smelling' pot and fucking me over.

Can I do this? What are the risks involved?

Also, once I was taken out of my pick-up and moved to where I couldn't see my pick-up. Then they ran a dog by it, luckily it didn't smell shit and I was able too go home. Although I did get a ticket.

Can I refuse to be removed from the view of my pick-up. I can't help but feel this was done for some shady ass reasons.

*I wasn't present and am not sure if it was truly illegal. However, by the way it was described it sure as shit was.

  2. In some areas it's illegal to film cops

Because, you know, that would actually hold them accountable for their actions

  3. Film takes away the "Their word over yours factor".

But then again you could also be fucked over if they use the video against you and your actually breaking the law in it.

  4. There are few places that prohibit filming the police. Check your laws

Even though it may be legal, the cops will act as if it is illegal and harass you to wits end.

Learn the law from front to back before attempting this

  5. Well fuck it then, I am going to. I can't find a law that says I can't film a cop.

  6. In some places it is illegal to film police.

    Keep this in mind.

  8. haha they would make you take off your glasses, i mean they tell you to take off hats and shit

  9. Here's one of the many articles available about it;
    Gizmodo, the Gadget Guide

I'll stop before I end up quoting the whole article, but if you're going to do this, it's definitely something you want to be very careful about. :p
