Former President of Cuba Fidel Castro speaking recently warned of the threat of a nuclear holocaust and an end to the current world social order.

"When the president [Barack Obama] would give the order ... it would be tantamount to ordering the instant death not only of hundreds of millions of people including an inestimable number of residents of the United States as well, but also the crew member of all of the United States navel craft in the seas heading towards Iran," Castro said.

"Simultaneously with this, the conflagration would break out in the Middle East and Eurasia."

Castro said that the current world order "cannot last and will inevitably collapse".

He asserted that foreign exchange reserves, which have created wealth by taxing hard working publics, would also fall apart.

Castro someone i admire greatly despite his many faults seems to be going strong still despite the efforts of many US administrations.

While i am sure many here despise Castro it seems to me that he has achieved what he set out to do and has thus been a success story.

A David V's Goliath figure who has shown that we dont all have to "assimilate"..

Would be interested to hear other blades views...

  2. Isn't dude a vegetable now, and his brother ruling the country?

    Castrooo:love:~

  4.

Yes, Castro proves we don't have to "assimilate", just live in the home the government gives you, be devoid of outside news and media, and make about 8 dollars a month ( as a nurse not even an unskilled job) while giving the rest to the government so that they can take care of everyone "equally." NO assimilation there!

    All that said ..

    I agree with this statement.

Of course the "world order" Cannot sustain itself. Humans by nature cannot make an entire world order work indefinitely. In my opinion, the world orders collapse will be a good thing ( my opinion is based on the fact that nuclear holocaust is not as likely as its touted, at least on the scale of THE ENTIRE WORLD being covered with nukes.)

People need to be governed by themselves ( through elected officials if you must). If they choose to be socialist, good for them, if they choose to have more freedom, even better imo. However the world will never be "one" cohesive group of people that can be collectively controlled. Neither should it be.

  5. He has had major health problems of late and stepped down and his brother Raul is now president.

Going by that interview he seems to be doing well....

  6. It's hard to take Castro seriously when his country is associated/allied with countries who pose a direct nuclear threat to the US. Wait, scratch that, this is just pure propaganda.

  7. Castro! :metal:

    Long live Fidel!

  8. Fidel is great. Yay fascism. Woohoo. Hey guys, you like Mao too? Yea, Mao is my homeboy. Who cares if 50 million people died under his rule.

  9. Wait, Iran (or North Korea) has the capability to attack Americans on US soil? Would Mr. Castro like to reveal how they could pull that off?

  10. Nah, I don't like Mao. I like Jong. Jong is my main man.

You're a god damn fool if you think anything about what that man has done is a success story. Perhaps for he can think of himself as successful, staging a coup and holding control of a country for so long in the backyard of the U.S. What about the thousands who were killed by his regime for acting out? The thousands more that were sent to jail for their entire lives for opposing him? I don't think they met quite the same success. What about the millions of people who had to dangerously flee their country because of his opression? He transformed Cuba from a bustling, emerging nation in the 1950's to a backwards third world country with wide spread poverty and zero infrastructure. The Cubans that are left behind still under his control are utterly brain washed, accepting their 1 lb of bread a MONTH for rations.

You admire a cruel man who has ruled his country with an iron fist and continues to do so to this day, allowing the Cuban people ZERO human rights, limited outside communication and barely provides the necessities to sustain people day to day. Computers were just allowed several years ago; without internet of course. The only news these people receive comes from stations broadcasting from mainland USA. The worst part is he has the country convinced that that is an acceptable way of life, and they seem resistant to change. Sad really.

Which is why we need to keep an eye on you liberals. You have a tendency to swoon over those who would oppress you.

This is nothing but the last gasps at relevancy before the end of an attention whoring dictator's life.

If you ever wondered how these dictators come to power.........

    Wallah!

I'll never understand this love affair by liberals for people that go against everything they stand for.

Cuba is not the communist/socialist shinning city on a hill as the liberal left likes to portray it, no, its a fucking dictatorship, That's right, hes a mentally disturbed dictator in the mold of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Kim Jung mentally fucking ill. That right they are dictators, dictators that fly in the face of the bases of communism, they are the reason communism never, ever, works.

  14. My dad went to Cuba and stayed with a family last year. He said he felt guilty because he ate real food and had hot showers everyday, while the family who's house he was staying at had to eat ham and cheese and couldn't use the same shower.

  15. Your point is....?

    This.

Man, people are so dumb; does not support a leadership that promotes peace. Did we ever had peace dictatorship?

  16. A friend of ours just got back from Cuba, spent two weeks there with a humanitarian group that promotes sustainable farming practices.

Cubans are very interested in organics, and have some very imaginative ways of dealing with their shortages, which are mostly the result of American sanctions.

Castro is an old man now, something which still bothers many Americans, who have been wishing him dead for 50 years.

He outlived Nixon, and Kruschev, and Mao, and Reagan, and the Berlin wall, and Kennedy. And with any luck, he may survive the Bushes as well.

Can you imagine the balls this guy has?

    Fidel es un toro grande!

I would like to visit Cuba. Why the hell not? It's beautiful, and only partially covered in CIA rendition camps!

  17. Don't be fooled Al, Cuba is only beautiful in the very limited sections that they allow tourists from the US to go. Tourists are not allowed to go into cities and interact with locals, you WILL be detained for doing so and most likely sent on the first flight out of the country. The rest of the country is a slum, populated by people who are not afforded ambitions because they are told from a young age what to eat what to think and what to become.

  18. Castro and the regime in place in Cuba are deeply flawed but the point i was trying to make was that perhaps Castro should be respected and admired for what he has achieved..

He went a different way, stuck to his guns and stayed afloat.
He held onto power for an unprecedented length of time by modern standards.
    He saw everyone off..

  19. Not saying cuba is as bad as europe was during WW2, but by the same logic of taking into account what the person achieved based on what they set out to achieve, then id have to make the assumption that you also should respect and admire hitler, for damn near getting the job done in europe, and would have without american intervention.

For the record, its not admirable, or worthy of respect every time you set out to do something and get it done. I perosnally only admire and respect someone who achieves goals that are admirable by nature.

  20. `

    Hitler ???

    Not going to say anything...:)

Admirable goals are what has us in the mess we are today..
