knowing what i know now, i would never buy FFOF again. i'd just pick what i wanted in the soil and cook my own. way easier, way cheaper and customized.
Out if the soils I've used, FF was my least favorite. I'm happy with my masters pride and hopefully my homemade super soil that I am trying out will be even better. I used the masters pride as my base soil still. Great stuff.
totally agree. i got really poor results the first month. it barely grew. so, i recently transplanted my seedlings to some no name compost & alfalfa meal mix. at 3 weeks they are way bigger than the clones i transplanted to ffof for 6 weeks. theres a bunch of santas beard on the compost soil too. its pretty crazy
This ingredients list is taken from the masters pride website. Firbark Canadian Spagnum Peat Moss Redwood Compost Mushroom Compost Volcanic Pumice Earthworm Castings Perlite Chicken Manure Washed Sand Kelp Meal Bat Guano Feather Meal Gypsum Oystershell Dolomite Lime Yucca 5 species of Ecto Mycorrhizal fungi 3 species of Endo Mycorrhizal fungi And humic acids It's a pretty damn good soil IMO.
It's $10 for a 2 cubic ft bag and where I shop they have it on special in the spring @ 4 bags for $30.
nice. i might have to look for that bc the soil i made wont be ready when i transplant the clones to a bigger pot
I like the ff soil. Idk just my opinion, i was using pro mix. I am having good results, but mine seems to dry every 4 days or so.
Hey Stoner, Different strokes for different folks, no doubt. But, I'd give one of the recommended soils a try sometime - then you can see the difference first hand and potentially side-by-side. Generally speaking you'll have to work less to get better results. Cheers, GM
You guys in USA have much better access to organic amendments, in the shops in UK your pretty limited to bone meal, fish/blood/bone and growmore 7.7.7 organic fert one place had "enhanced" seaweed meal lol doesn't say what it was enhanced with and what seaweed it is either.. Even the hydro shops don't carry shit. bio bizz is about it no dry amendments. even the garden centers they all have shit compost from miricle grow and othr shit composts that dont list any of the things thats in it
Ive had to source everything from the internet apart from volcanic rock dust Had to make make my own thermocompost and worm castings because didn't want to buy shit from big company's had to use store bought soil for this round and hopfully my compost will be ready for the next grow in couple months. I deffo think it will be better than any store bought stuff
Can you guys find lucerne? I just found out that's what certain other countries call alfalfa. You might be able to find perlite at the hardware store over there. I'm not sure about the other amendments. Maybe take a trip to the ocean to get some fresh kelp? lol. And making your own compost and castings is a great idea under any conditions.
