Ok I'm basically taking some bagseed and trying to make a tiny 1 plant grow operation. I germinated 2 seeds so far and planted them and covered them with a plastic bag to keep in moisture and I didn't water them just moistened the soil before hand, and now I have a few questions. 1. I used soil from my mom's vegetable garden outside my house, is that suitable for growing marijuana in? I know it isn't good but I want to know if the weed will in fact grow in it (if its any help there are flowers trying to sprout up from where I took the soil so it's possible for stuff to grow in it.) 2. How long after I plant the germinated seed will a seedling emerge from the soil? Just a rough estimate would be acceptable. 3. Would it work if I placed the potted seedling in my window to get sunlight? I can move it to different sides of the house so it will get all the sunlight. 4. When should I start watering my plant and how much water should I use for each feeding? 5. This is a stupid question and I'm almost sure the answer is no but I'll ask anyways. Can a plant survive on regular soft white light bulbs?
Hey, welcome to GC's growing forum. 1. Without knowing what exactly is in your soil, I can say that MJ is a fairly tough plant, and you should be ok. Does she have success? Testing pH of the soil, or getting yourself some new soil will give you a better understanding of what your working with. 2. Anywhere from 24 hours to a week depending on growing conditions and seed viability. Try to keep the humidity up, temperature acceptable, and top soil gently moist. 3. Sunlight is great, but often times glass can filter. If you can, try to get it direct sunlight. Indoor lighting will help your cause should the sun be hidden for a few days, not give enough hours of light, ect. 4. Watering is tough to recommend to people. Some soils retain water better than others. If you can, stick your finger down in the soil to see if its dry, once its dry, water it. People will also use a weight test, remembering what a dry pot of soil feels like vs a soaked pot of soil, giving you a better idea of when to water. 5. Chances are it will survive, but to better your chances, you want either a mix of lighting, or CFL or Fluro tube bulbs that give off 6000-6500K temperature for the vegetation stage. Lastly, try to read up as much as possible to better your chances as most of these questions have been covered already. Lots of great stickies in this forum that will help you a ton. Good luck, and dont hesitate to ask more questions if you need it. Hope this helps.
