I'm about grow with CFL's. I'm growing in a full dresser. I'm growing the strain "Gobstopper" and the seeds are bag seeds. Have a few questions. 1. How many watts do I need for 1 plant? I'm guessing around 150 watts? What's recommended? 2. Should I buy a bunch of 27 watt cfl's to equal out to about 150 + watts or just once big 150 watt + cfl? 3. I see people put the seeds into Dixie cups then transport them into bigger containers, but is it alright just to start it off in a big container, so no transplanting is needed? If so what size should the container be? 4. My dresser has about 4 feet of height to let the plant grow. How long should I veg and how long should I flower? And with that amount of veg/flow you recommend, how much bud do you think the plant will produce?

What's recommended? - 100 generally for 1 plant and 50 for any additonal, however the more the merrier 2. Should I buy a bunch of 27 watt cfl's to equal out to about 150 + watts or just once big 150 watt + cfl? - Personaly preference there, the smaller ones you can place around the plant so it gets equal light, but that is really a pain, or you can use the larger one and hang it right about her. 3. If so what size should the container be? - You could start her in a 5 gallon pot if you wanted to, once again personal preference, but the dixie cup is easy as it takes up a minimal amount of room, easy to water, and some use different soil's for germ/veg/flower, another reason why they transplant. 4. And with that amount of veg/flow you recommend, how much bud do you think the plant will produce? - No way to tell you how much you are going to yield, its impossible, figure if its your first time and you know something, .5g/watt, if you are good, than you will get more. Your plant is going to double or possibly even triple from its vegetative height so that should answer your question.
the GENERAL rule of thumb goes: "100 watts per 1, and 50 watts for each additional plant" my rule goes: "as many lights before the circuit breaker wants to trip"
the whole more lights the merrier thing is false. doing that will just cause you to run into heat issues
Alright thanks guys. I was thinking about using MH/HPS lights since they are better. But have a few more questions if you don't mind. 1. I heard MH lights are the best for veging, is this true? Should I use MH, HPS, or CFL lights for veging? 2. For flowering I heard HPS are the best, correct? 3. How hot does a 100 watt HPS and a 100 watt MH light get? 4. I would only need a 100 watt bulb for one plant right? Or should I go for 150 watts? 5. Does a 100 watt HPS light and 100 watt MH light take the same amount of electricity as a 100 watt cfl light? Asking because I don't want to raise my electric bill too high.
