My first Grow. Going great so far. CAN'T WAIT FOR FIRST HARVEST! Went all in, spent lots of money on indoor grow (in 6g so far) built an amazing room, wish it was bigger. 8" 980cfm Fan Up Top 6" 580cfm fan down below for hoods 16"x25" 1900 micron filter on the only intake in the air tight room. But before air gets there, it goes through a 600 micron pre filter. My command center lol Security! And my Ladies and my outdoor ladies Let me know what you think or suggestions to set up the room better. This is my first Grow. I did lots of research Then I had a brilliant idea to do an outdoor grow on our 50 acres. So there went ton more money (about a grand) Made a massive batch of super soil Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
ButYou'll never regret building a proper setup and having quality equipment. I'm surprised that you chose to go with such a huge scrog to start with though. I don't think you understand just how much work you're in for with that many plants in one scrog and I hope you have enough wattage in your lights to cover it all. The size and density of your buds is directly proportional to how much good strong lighting they get during flower. I proved this when we doubled our lighting in the flower room from 2,000 to 4,000 watts of hps a while back. Looks like you've done a beautiful job so far and I congratulate you on that. In the beginning, we laid down 5K just to get a very basic setup going...like you, we went all in and covered ourselves safety wise as well as chose only quality grow equipment. Since then, I've easily put another 6 or 7K into the thing and other than a couple of little tweaks here and there I have in the works along with adding a few LEDs into the mix this summer just for the added light spectrums, I pretty much have a grow palace now. You'll find that you never have enough space. Your plants are going to double or triple in size during the flower cycle and the more wattage you have hanging over them, the more vigorous the growth you will have. So be prepared to spend a ton of time in that room messing with those plants. LOL I have found that 1 1000 watt hps light can handle about 6 plants...and that's pushing it and requires constant rotation for even light disbursement. So just make sure you've got enough lighting over them to get as much out of them as possible. But you will get more bang for your wattage with a scrog. Good luck!! TWW
Thanks man. I definitely need more light. I'm trying to convince my significant other to let me get two 1000w lights on top of my 2 600w digital's and my 4 bulb 4ft HOT5. So I have around 1400w over top of my 7.5'x4' scrog net. We're ordering a 4x4x7' grow tent for drying that will be hooked into the spare 6" ventilation port on the top of the grow room above the door. And it will serve as extra grow space between harvests. Will having 2,000 more watts really change the yield of my first scrog significantly? If so by how much yield would you think? Because it will be another $600 for two more 1,000w lights and I have to convince her that it will pay off for another $600 for the lights and the additional fee on the electric bill lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I think this going to be dope, mainly for the pure joy of having your own lab but even better if you get your 6 G's back after this first grow. Good luck man, digging your investment.
Like above posters said it's a lot of work but I have no doubt you will get good results from the quality of the equipment and enviornment you have. You took a LOT of time clearly to set this all up which is more than what most people who are starting out can say. Even if it takes you several harvests to get your yields tuned in, you will still get respectable yields with all that light and space + the SCRoG. The quality will be awesome though regardless as long as the plants are cared for properly and the genetics are decent.
So with(2 air cooled) 600w and 1 4 bulb 4ft HO t5 in the flower room how much do you think could be my dry yield? Would it be worth 2 more 1000w HID's? How much additional yield? All the plants in 5 gallon smart pots are in Promix hp with the foxfarm trio. And the 5 autoflowers on the sidelines are in Foxfarm Ocean Forest. This is just in the flower room. I appreciate the input guys. Any info on yield with my current lights would be greatly appreciated and if I hear some good info on what the yield would be with 2,000 more watts would help me convince the misses to get 2 more lights lol. So input please! Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I would aim for at least 4 oz per plant with that setup for a beginner, but you could pull 8-12 oz per plant with all that for sure. Root space plays a big part in yield, I can generally get 8 oz per plant from 10 gallon container if the plants do well (under a 600 W). More light is almost always better if you can get 2kw in there without affecting the temps negatively you should go for it. EDIT: in terms of the actual lights though the higher wattage the light the more lumens you are getting in the footprint. You can get more light than a 1000 watt with 2 600s but they wont have as much concentrated light as the 1kw light. More lumens is more growth, fatter buds, etc.
Hey guys. Thanks for your input on this forum. I'm 2 Weeks into flower in my first indoor grow. I bought 2 more 600w HID's thanks to your replies on here. It helped lol. The wife let me buy 2 more. So thanks! Anyways, I was just hooking up my new ballasts and hardwired all 4 to a 40 Amp 240v digital timer, well I had the override switch in the "on" position on accident when I plugged in a ballast and the HID kicked on for a split second on their dark cycle before I unplugged it. Literally lit up for 2 seconds before I unplugged it. So did I ruin my plants or cause them to hermaphrodite? Or will they be OK? Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
They are just fine, I've turned mine on to clean out my room for about an hour and didn't find seeds or have any other problems Sent from my iPad using Grasscity Forum mobile app
You have to stress them pretty bad or they have to be genetically predisposed to herm, I've heard people who said the little red light on their fan caused their plants to herm, it's just not possible, if that were the case the moon would cause all marijuana plants to herm. Now if you flip the light on constantly at night, you could stress them and they'll herm but every now and then for a minute won't hurt anything Sent from my iPad using Grasscity Forum mobile app
you either need shit genetics or to fuck up real bad to get hermie plants. occasionally some genetics will pop a few male flowers at the end of it's life cycle, but they usually don't last long enough to pollinate, or if it does you will get a couple seeds per ounce but nothing serious. u should be good don't worry about hermie. u really gotta mess up to get em
Thanks man for the piece of mind lol. I have great genetics. All Feminized. Chemdog, Blue Dream, Pineapple Express, Critical +, White Widow, and Purple Afghan Kush. So I should be good then I hope. Ballasts are installed An industrial 240v Hardwired timer And 2 New 16" Hurricane Wall Mounts Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
All 4 hoods up and running. Now off to hook up my 6" fan & duct for cooling the hoods Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
You should be good, I wish I had that setup. I run 1-600watt and I grow enough to smoke all I want. I don't sell but I don't have to worry about running out. If you want quality bud around here you have to grow your own. Looks good Sent from my iPad using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Same here. Sick of getting junk smoke. Now hopefully I will have good stuff. It seems to be good good so far. Just got all these nutes too. Hopefully it will help Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Honestly I don't know for sure, I don't own a pair of scales and I do a perpetual grow where I harvest 1 plant every 15 days. If I had to guess, I would say a pound easy from 1-600 watt light but some say you should get 1 gram per 1 watt of hps. Yield has a lot of factors involved, what strain, how long you veg, soil vs. hydro, co2, so no one will be able to predict your yield exactly, after you grow them a few times and get a feel for them, you should be able to get a good idea of what to expect. Sent from my iPad using Grasscity Forum mobile app
That's amazing. I had no idea a 600-watt could yield that much. After this grow I might end up unplugging a few lights then LOL Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Oh yeah advanced nutrients is one of the best, I grew with them my first grow, i switch from Chem fertilizer in coco to homemade organic soil a few months ago and my plants never looked better, but you have a great nutrient line up there. I would recommend you use that until you get the feel for growing, then start making your own soil, it seems complicated at first but the plants will love you for it. Organic for quality Chem for quantity, Sent from my iPad using Grasscity Forum mobile app
