@old shol4evr Keep the OHN separately labeled. Mix when ready to use. I keep a few syringes around 3cc - 60cc you can shove a 1/4” piece of tubing on the end. Makes measuring quick. Rinse with water between ferments.
So when using plants such as mint and lavender should you stay away from heavy soil feedings due to the antiseptic properties in the plants, strictly foliar or would an occasional light soil drench be beneficial. Like mLs to gallon
This is my 1st girl. She has had a malted barley top dress, OHN with turmeric, Noni, and banana potato FFJ, LAB, and IMO-1. LAB, IMO-1, and FFJ/FPJ alternating weekly applications. What I’ve been doing is also cycling the vinegar aspect. Between banana, brown rice vinegar, potato/banana/payapa. I use the KNF app so it calcs everything for me. The minerals in sea water are too many to mention. I’m thinking it’s also a alkaline source and buffers the acidic sources in these cocktails. I use it regularly with sea water. I do find the term fermented sea water kinda funny. Check out Drakes page on YouTube he gives some guidance about when to use but also keep in mind Horticulture vs. Agriculture to different monsters if you’re in pots.
I wouldn’t worry about it. At such small dilution it’s probably negligible. Besides microbes come back, especially with a small top dress of vermipost.
I combine all of my OHN. Ferment and extract separately, but once you do the alcohol pulls, go ahead and combine. No point in keeping them separate - the alcohol pretty much kills all of the life anyway. It’s just a tincture at that point. One question that I have been wondering about... maybe someone knows. It says to use WCA / Water Soluble Calcium Acetate during “fruit”. What would that translate to for cannabis? Should we begin adding it like halfway through flowering? I’m still a bit confused, I’ve never used Cal Mag.... should we start adding calcium from the time the plants get first start to bloom, or is it better to wait until halfway through flowering to start adding it? This is how my plants look now... just barely starting to put out pistils, but definitely starting to bloom. So should I begin adding it now, or wait? Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
You never need to use Calmag, what’s your soil mix like?? Did you lime it appropriately? (Dolomite lime? Oyster Shell Flour?) Calcium is important during all stages of growth.
If your soil is crafted from one of the recipes around the organic section you probably have enough calcium in your mix. Keep in mind that these are designed for agricultural land where you need to deal with the native soil. We don’t have that issue in our containers and crafted soil, so we need to temper accordingly when using these inputs. If you are in the ground get a soil test so you have a baseline. “The three kinds of OHNs (ginger, garlic and cinnamon) are mixed just before using in the following ratio: 1:1:1:1000.” I’ll stick with the experience of Dr. Cho. I don’t use cal mag because it’s not acceptable for use within KNF principles. This is the feeding schedule for all stages of growth, according to the KNF app written by Eric Weinert: As you can see, WCA isn’t called for at all until “fruiting”. However, our cannabis plants don’t bear fruit. So how does the information on that screenshot equate to cannabis? As for soil, I didn’t follow a recipe. I used some bagged topsoil that I could get for a reasonable price because I ran out of funds halfway through my supersoil project. The soil has been performing just fine. I just need to know when to start adding calcium acetate. I’ve been using calcium phosphate(WCP) thus far, as the above information indicates. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
”Adjust your dilutions based on results.” I’m only applying once a week and 1-2 gallons per 35 gallon pot. Source:
@oldshol4evr per gallon, yes. Hard to find any information about intended frequency. I’ve been doing 2 soil drenches per week so far, with regular waterings in between them. There is a lecture on YouTube by Master Cho himself but I haven’t gotten around to listening to it, I believe it’s about 2 hours long. @FickySiskers interesting... thank you. I should apply that information to my soil drenches as well, even though it says it’s for foliar?? Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I would @MedicatedWarrior235 We went down the ferment path here in the city a long time ago. What was being seen was lock out and some strange issues that pointed to soil problems. The general consensus was the ferments applied as soil drench knocked the equilibrium out of balance. It eventually comes back, but it’s not what we’re looking for. In my opinion, the simple issue is horticulture vs. agriculture. We’re dealing with much smaller volumes of soil. One common thread I keep pulling out of KNF is 1:1000 for foliar 1:500 for soil. Application in soil In my opinion should be about 10% of soil volume once weekly. Just a side note, if you're using SIPs, do not let any ferments into your res. If they do, drain and reset.
