Feeding schedule?

  1. Hello GC....I have a plant that has been vegging for 40 days and I'm about to switch her to flowering.

I have fed her a little bit of nutrients ( fox farms trio) but only once and now need to determine a feeding schedule. The plant is a BF LSD seed. If anyone has a copy of the fox farms chart too that would help :)

Is there anything special I need to do before I switch to flowering?

  2. But honestly it says right on the product how to use it, you want to start with a much weaker concentration and then you can work it up to the amount they say.

  3. Come on man you coulda google'd this, right?

  4. I start out with half of what the bottle tells me, and work my way up form there every other watering

  5. I was asking if anyone had any tips too....not just for the fox farms schedule....

And if you have to be a dick.....then don't post in my thread. Thanks

  6. Well you asked for a feeding schedule, and if there was anything special that you may need to know. I gave you the feeding schedule, and as far as anything special? I really don't understand the question? I guess if your plant is sensitive to nutrients then start off by giving half the nutes it asks for on the feeding chart when flowering starts, if they seem fine I would just do the full 2tsp of Tiger Bloom and 1 tbsp Big Bloom of nutes a gallon for flowering...you could also try adding unsulfured molasses to your grow, I did this with my last grow with great results. Usually about 1-2tbsp per gallon, mix it with a little warm water then add to water with the nutes. I watered with molasses every watering during flowering till I flushed my plants. Some people like the idea of just plain water in there plants, I chose to just run molasses with my water and with my nutes. Idk, just my preference.

  7. How did molasses affect your grow?

  8. I felt like molasses gave my buds significantly more mass. I'll post pictures later showing the difference in size compared to grows I used no molasses with. I'll be using molasses during my next grow as well (which I'm currently in the process of doing now), but this grow I will actually compare the two plants with each plant living in the same condition during the same grow, rather than just compare previous grows. I'm growing two G13 Pineapple Express, two Holy Smoke Strawberry Diesel and one Nirvana Blue Mystic. I'll be watering one PE, one SD, and the Blue Mystic with molasses water and molasses feed. The other two will be watered with plain water and fed with straight nutes, no molasses at all. IMHO, molasses is the cheapest route if you want bigger buds on your plant, Advanced Nutrients sells something similar called Bud Candy, however you can't find it for cheaper than $25-30 after shipping. A quick trip to the supermarket and $3-5 dollars later you basically bought the same thing. Personally for me it's a no brainer considering how much I've spent on lights, on soil, nutes, and foliar feed.

  9. I tend to water with more runoff than usual when I switch to flowering nutes. That way it washes away the residual veg nutes that are still in the medium. I use coco though so I don't know if that's a good idea in soil or not.

  10. Let the court witness I have contributed a genuine tip, not simply dickery.

  11. haha sorry man i was agitated...i looked up the fox farms schedule but i always hear that it isn't the best to work with....anyway i think i'm going to buy the un-sulfered molasses and see what it can do. Thanks for the tip :)

  12. Dont waste your time on Molasses. The only real good thing molasses is used for is to feed beneficial bacteria and to add a little flavor to the finished product. Thats it, thats all.

FoxFarm is good stuff. Just follow the feeding chart and you'll be good to go. And all this talk about using half strength nutes..... if your plant is 40 days old, then you should definitely be using full strength nutrients. Plus FoxFarm is mostly organic, unless you bought the hydro foxfarm nutes. So feed them heavy, otherwise you wont get shit on yield. Use the basic Grow Big, Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom and you'll be good to go. If you want to get fancy... add some Beastie Bloom. But molases is a waste of time. Add molasses in during the last few weeks of flowering to add some extra flavor.

  13. There are countless forums with backed up results from using molasses in the grow. Personally it's the cheapest thing I use in my grow, I bought the Fox Farms trio for $45-58 and my seeds cost $50 to get some decent fem. The lighting was $100-200 and the ventilation with carbon filter is at least $50. Now why wouldn't he just go and spend $3-5 on some molasses? If it gives him bigger buds great, if it gives him more flavor great...but it's doing something nonetheless. I respect your opinion, however you tell him not to add molasses at all, then you end with advice on using molasses and tell him it adds extra flavor. Idk about you but for $3 bucks, I would spend that in a heartbeat for some extra flavorful bud, if the buds produce a larger yield then bonus, if not then I didn't break the bank on some crap product that did absolutely nothing. Again, we are all entitled to our own opinion, I'm just confused with yours.

  14. Most beginners are confused with some of the things I say and thats understandable. So let me see if I can break this down some.... but let me first start off by saying that I dont think Im better then anyone or anything like that, but as a beginner grower, you tend to look for these miracle fixes for things. For instance... CalMag from Botanicare. I use to think that was some magical shit right there, because everyone talked about it and everyone used it. And when I say everyone... I mean everyone that was a beginner like myself.

Eventually I stopped using it, and I didnt see not one difference in anything. I even found a CalMag supplement that works even better then CalMag from Botanicare... but thats getting off subject...

Molasses is a decent supplement, but I guarantee that it will NOT increase yield. Molasses isnt even considered a plant food. It has very little phosporus in it. Im talking maybe .001 percent and its just not something that you use to increase yield. The benefits that you do get from it, is the fact that it can increase flavor in plants and if you are using beneficial bacteria, it will also feed that bacteria. So using it towards the last 3 weeks is something that you can do. But even then, the good that comes from it is so minimal, that unless your a true connoisseur, then you wont even notice a difference.

So the point is.... using Molasses is close to pointless during any stage of growth, except the last few weeks. FoxFarm nutrients gives you everything you need. The broken down organic matter in the nutes feeds the beneficial bacteria, and because the nutrients are organic based, your already going to have a more intense flavor from that.

So I dont mean for this to be rude, but if adding pointless stuff to your plants, just because its only 2 bucks, is the way you do things... then by all means... go for it man. But dont sit and talk about it like its some miracle nutrient thats going to increase yield... because it doesnt increase yield. Its not even considered a nutrient or a plant food. Sure plants will take it in, but it does nothing for the actual growth of the plant.

Now if you want to know about a miracle nutrient.... get yourself some PhosophoLoad or other growth regulator... learn how to use it correctly and you wont believe your eyes.

  15. Again, I take what you say into consideration. But with all do respect, I NEVER once said it increased MY yield. I said I thought it increased the overall size of my buds, that is after I compared my previous grows when I used nothing but Fox Farms nutes, and plain water. By no means do I believe molasses is sent down by the weed gods to make plants something they're not, no molasses is far from that. But as I said earlier, if it gives me even a little bit more flavor or bud mass, then I want to do it. This is personal preference, I do not have $130 to spend on 1 liter of Phosphoload. I think before this convo gets too heated we should just agree to disagree.

  16. I dont think this conversation will get heated at all. Im not mad.... are you mad?? lol.

But yield is usually bud mass or bud size. If your buds are bigger, or the mass is larger... then your yield is bigger. Bigger buds... bigger yield. There pretty much the same thing.

Phosphoload is pretty expensive.... You can get simulair results from Humbolt Nutes Bush Master. You just have to know how much to use and when to use it. Im in the second week of flowering, and it looks like Im in the 4th. Thats something that makes a difference worth getting excited about.

  17. I was actually going to try some molasses, but a much more experienced gardener warned it may bring bugs in.

  18. I agree completely, your advice is solid. I've been using Dutch Master Penetrator and Saturator in a few of my grows with great results. I know their stuff works and I'll have to try the Phosphoload when I get the funds. I've also used Humboldt Purple Maxx and Gravity with great results. So I know they have good products as well. :smoke:

  19. Oh yeah... I forgot about that. Gnats love that stuff..!!! Also if you catch root aphids or other soil borne pest... the molasses feeds them and makes them even stronger.

So if using molasses a good thing to add to your growing medium is an organism called "nematodes".
