  1. As long as there are still republicans it will never happen.

  5. I’d keep an eye on who votes for what and vote them out next election.

  6. We have had both parties in power at the fed level while states have legalized it so I’m not sure if it’s as easy to just point to republicans as it was 20 years ago. They do win the prize for making the drug war the hell that it’s been for decades but now is their chance to redeem.

Edit for fair criticism, Democrats have had full power at various times and failed to do anything about the drug war hell and in fact helped it along with mandatory sentences and such.

  7. I know it’s new NEWS and it’s an exciting first step. Yet already there’s Republicans going on record saying fuck that shit. But fingers crossed!!!

  8. Both sides hold stock in private prisons/super prisons while judges and district attorneys are paid to over prosecute and fill the prisons.

  9. Or apparently Bidan. Oye.

I did catch what he said today on the debates but he's uneducated. Cannabis is one of the most studied plants out there. It's been cited like 21,000 times on pubmed.

Ps, Hi Mick! Hope you are hangin' in there. It's quiet on the political threads.

  12. I don't like the social programs to communities most harmed by cannabis prohibition that this contains. Sure, get rid of prohibition and do the expungement but forget the welfare programs for some communities but not others. "the MORE Act contains strong social equity provisions with an emphasis on restorative justice for communities most impacted by cannabis prohibition." In other words some congressmen will be bringing home the bacon to their districts and the rest of us will pay for it.

  13. Not all republicans are against it, that's a very dangerous view to hold.

  14. I agree but they almost always vote in lockstep.

  15. That's why it is important to not hold opinions based on party, but based on what someone actually says.

  16. Also, the Republican party is shifting towards legalization in itself. It probably wont be much longer.

The RNC keeps scorecards. If you vote your own conscience often enough you'll be practically and often entirely drummed out of the party. It's inherently fascist. The DNC has its own version of this but it doesn't begin to compare. 90% of party shuns have always been R, ask anyone from Trent Lott to John McCain. Meanwhile Bernie Sanders formally runs as a socialist within the Democratic Party.

  19. True. The Republicans are the only ones that shame their own constituents with terms like RINO.
