FDA Approves Another Pharmaceutical, Synthetic Cannabis Product

While the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has yet to meet their deadline of announcing whether or not they plan on rescheduling cannabis under the Controlled Substances Act, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has no problem approving a liquid form of synthetic THC called dronabinol, sold under the brand name Syndros. The synthetic cannabis will likely be classified as a Schedule III, which would mean that its medicinal use has been accepted by the DEA, and the potential for abusing the drug is low.

The pharmaceutical company that produces Syndros is Insys Therapeutics, which is the same company that manufactures Marinol. Marinol is classified as Schedule III, although its negative side effects make it inferior to cannabis for many patients. Syndros is different from Marinol, because the liquid form of the drug (Syndros) allows it to absorb faster than synthetic THC in pill form (Marinol).
It is both ironic and bizarre that government institutions continue to approve pharmaceutical drugs that mimic cannabis, while they still deny any medicinal use of the whole plant and instead schedule cannabis in the same category as heroin.

It would appear that the government institutions prefer to approve pharmaceutical versions of cannabis, because they are much more profitable than allowing people to grow their own cannabis plants. This is because creating pharmaceutical, synthetic forms of cannabis is very complicated and creates an exclusive product that cannot be easily reproduced.

Advocates, patients, doctors and researchers continue to await the decision by the DEA on whether or not they will reschedule cannabis. In the meantime, the development and acceptance of cannabis-mimicking drugs continues to be ironic, to say the least.

  2. My fiancés mom has late stage MS. She can hardly sit up on her on. She uses dronabinol because marijuana is illegal where she lives, and although counter productive to the "legalization movement" , there is legitimacy to this drug where as clearly it's still illegal to possess in some states. The industry has to conform to all standards. What's the issue? At least they are brainstorming ideas instead of denying proven facts.

  3. But you are correct, it's far more profitable to sell those pills that allow us to create our own medicine.

  4. The issue is she is not getting all the benefits from the REAL plant which isn't right.

Think on it this way .........
You go to the grocery store and are able to either buy real potatoes or the kind that come in the box. The kind in the box is just like the situation she is in.
It may taste ok, but a real potato is going to not only taste better but be BETTER for her!
That is just one of the issues.
The other is your government is saying yes this plant has value but it's value is only good iof we can CONTROL your intake of it and we can PROFIT off of your intake.
Your government with their control from the FDA, DEA, your local pharmacies have together formed one of the biggest drug cartels in the world.
The propaganda machine has gone on so long that people look at these FAKE drugs as a win going in the right direction.

    I disagree. Not a win.
Far from it. In fact it is OPPOSITE of going in the right direction.
Your government doesn't want us growing our own medicine.
They have no way to tax it.
    It drives them nuts.

Here is an example of that tax and control ............
Here in Washington State since 1998 medical cannabis had been going just fine. Yes, just like any other situation there were people abusing it. You'll find that in any industry it's nothing new.
So once Washington State found out they could get rid of medical here and tax rec cannabis it was game on to DESTROY THOUSAND of people's lives here who have thousands of hours of research, equipment, etc, the ones following the rules even though there shouldn't have been any rules. They have completely taken it away unless you want to register with the state like a SEX OFFENDER.
After you have been to a doctor to be qualified you go to a dispensary with YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS and a person who isn't in the medical field looks at them, place them on file, and gives you a card. That in it's self is ILLEGAL no one but someone ion the medical field is allowed to look at your medical records under federal law.

So after signing up like a sex offender you are told any plant you grow needs to be BOUGHT from a dispensary so they can TAX it, then CONTROL it from clone state to flower.

Washington State is an example of what happens when the insatiable desire for control and $$$$$$$$$ becomes involved over a plant your friend should be able to use.

Yes, I got serious issues with the government propaganda machine refusing her the right to have the REAL MEDICINE!

That isn't brainstorming ideas as you say it is outright STEALING from her health!

Cancer patients are dying daily because the government worships $$$$$$$$$$ when cannabis can cure most of them instead of placing such poisonous drugs from a LAB in them that is so bad for them their HAIR falls out but hey the sheep in this country believe everything their doctor and government say. The doctors are programmed in med school to believe this is the way to treat people with as much drugs from the lab as possible.
