FCC cracking down on interference from chinese LED's?

Discussion in 'Security' started by Alec72, Mar 12, 2019.

  1. Heard some chatter locally about the Chinese grow lights (LED's) causing interference's with local radio frequencies. I don't know how much of it is true and exactly who could be tracked but it seems if your lights are responsible for interference's then you can be fined for damages to equipment from your lights? (Citation needed on the specifics of FCC protocols) The reason I am posting here first before I look into it myself is I'm sure someone on here knows specifics on mfg. If this turns out to be true this could give a whole lot more concern into lighting even in legal states or indoor plants completely unrelated to cannabis. If this has already been posted then thats my bad.

  3. Local HAM radio operators that’s why I stated it’s chatter but they specifically noted Chinese Grow lights. This is in a state where it’s medical but the process for farms doesn’t open up to start licensing until June and then longer. I was hoping someone else had some information on it since our state doesn’t have a high number.

  4. A LED driver and a ballast are not the same thing. And I doubt anybody would build a large grow with chinese LEDs, they're know for being built with fake branded LEDs or bottom bin LEDs, I would never buy a grow light coming out of China since it's like a 95% chance you're getting ripped off.

A ballast can be enough to fuck with your neighbours radio or even internet if you're in an apartment.

  5. Iv'e never seen a LED with a ballast, and as someone who used HID and had the cable company go absolutely f'ing APESHIT over the interference, RUINING my entire grow... iv'e been running LEDs for just under 3 months, ZERO interference issues. I think someone blowing smoke up someones ass.

  6. Well, i can say for sure that LED's interference with radio communications because i'm a radio expert and i use radios everyday so while i'm inside the building which has big LED panels, the radio goes deaf as fuck especially if we're talking about handhelds. Although, the interference mostly exists on the VHF band..UHF is slightly better because it penetrates buildings more easily.

  7. LED's affect things for sure.

Replaced a bulb in my garage door opener and didn't think much about it. Then the garage door would stop closing when I was leaving. Always seemed to work when coming home. It was puzzling and I even bought a new remote. Then I read about LED's affecting garage doors, swapped the Cree LED out for a Utilitech one and the problem went away.
