Favourite Sci Fi Films

  1. Please tell me what yours is in case I have not seen it (though I don't usually watch pre 2000 films :p)

    Mine recently is district 9

  2. great film

  3. I'll list two pre-2000 scifi films that you should watch, anyway. :D

    1) Forbidden Planet (link to trailer)
    2) This Island Earth (link to trailer)

Now, with that out of the way... ;)

Have you seen In Time (link to trailer)? It's got shades of Logan's Run, Bonnie & Clyde, Robin Hood... it's pretty good!

If you want some mindless (but entertaining) action, try Lockout (link to trailer). If you've seen Escape from New York and Die Hard, you'll see the heavy influences in this. So while it's not exactly original at all, it's fun 'cos of the sets in space, etc. Actually, the opening chase sequence was pretty cool in its own right, I'd say.

Did you see the new Total Recall (link to terrible trailer), btw? I'm one of ten people who thought it was awesome. :p It's maybe a bit heavy on the class warfare message, but still quite decent. If you're not going in expecting to compare it to the original, you should be okay.

At any rate, there's just a few recent scifi flicks for ya. :smoking:

    The 5th Element
    The Thing
    Jurassic Park
    Dark City
    Equilibrium

    Just to name a few

  5. 1. Predator
    2. Robocop
    3. The Matrix
    4. Artificial Intelligence
    5. Rise of the Planet of the Apes
    6. T2: Judgment Day
    7. Return of the Jedi
    8. Equilibrium

Jurassic park comes out in 3D to theaters on April fifth, I'm gonna go see it count on it.:smoking:

  11. I hate 3d. But I will be seeing this anyway just so I can see Jurassic Park on the big screen again. Who knows, the 3D may actually be good.

  12. Just mentioned it in another thread, but 'The Man From Earth' is a great, albeit non-traditional, modern sci-fi classic :)

  13. Blade Runner
    Moon
    Inception
    Looper
    Independence Day
    Stargate
    Event Horizon

  14. The 5th Element.
Serenity (the movie for the series Firefly.)
    The Star Wars original films.
The even numbered Star Trek movies.
    The new Star Trek movie.
Original Total Recall remains one of my favorites.
    Demolition Man.

  15. Watched Terminator 2 a couple years ago on blu-ray. That movie is ridiculously good.

Also Star Trek: First Contact is fantastic.
