  1. I've never been a fan of SRV but since you are I bequeath you with this excerpt from the movie Crossroads.

  2. I have that on DVD but I hate to break it to you. That's Steve Vai.

  7. Oh, very tough question, there are so many fantastic guitarists out there:

    Dimebag Darrell
    Richie Blackmore
    Dave Mustaine
    David Gilmour
    Stevie Ray
    Yngwie Malmsteen
    Tony Iommi
    Jimmy Page
    Marty Friedman
    Eric Clapton

    and so much more...

But the King will always be Hendrix, the techniques he developed, the use of distortion, feedback forever changed Rock music, without him there would have been no Metal, Punk etc. Jimi could play Jazz, Pysch Rock, Blues, Funk, Proto-Metal (Voodoo Child slight return), virtually anything. You can't name another guitarist who is that versatile.

  8. For me, I love Jerry Garcia. If I’m not mistaken, he’s the most recorded guitarist in American history. Look it up, I’m pretty sure that’s right. And, if it’s not right, he’s still an awesome guitarist and singer. Oh, Eric Clapton is pretty awesome too.

    RIP Jerry 1942 - 1995

  15. I’ve played for 20 years but only acoustic. More of a finger piccy, slapper than a shredder.
Not sure I have a favourite guitarist but I love this guy...

And I don’t know if this kid is still at it but this is one of my favourite pieces of music ever written for a lot of reasons and he fuckin smashes it like a boss.
Wait till you hear the scream around 1:42, The single best note ever hit by anyone anywhere!
Starts off slow for 30 seconds but wow, this kid gonna be the best of the best one day if he keeps at it.

  16. Ooh this guy too, Eric mongrain. you can feel the vibes coming him every time he plays.
This my favourite he’s done though. Can really appreciate how at one he is with his guitar here. Beautiful music composed by the soul.
He also plays it like a piano, literally :)

  17. Leo Kottke ... hard to compare anyone to his style... maybe John Fahy or Peter Lang.
