I searched previous threads, and I didn't find any similar ones, so if one exists, I'm sorry, I don't mean to make unnecessary threads. That being said, what is your favorite guitar solo. This is probably my favorite all time (starts at 4:25 goes through 5:15): [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60J6HlvfePM]YouTube - The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream - Soma[/ame] This is pretty great too (starts at 4:38): [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9TGj2jrJk8]YouTube - Led Zeppelin-Stairway to Heaven[/ame] This entire song is really one long solo: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA6qzOQObnA&feature=related]YouTube - Not Jimi Hendrix - Star Spangled Banner, Woodstock[/ame]
The last 30 seconds of guns n roses paradise city. OR....the complete like 16 minute live version of Life w/ Out You by SRV.
Ermmm pink floyd have a bunch of epic solos: the one in dogs, pigs (three different ones), comfortably numb, time shit there are a load heartbreaker by zeppelin. Man jimmy page rapes the guitar in that song hendrix obviously all along the watchtower shit anything hendrix i cant pick ONE favourite guitar solo lol
On SP's "Soma" (in original post) I've always liked the soft solo at 3:09. Two guitars harmonizing each other with such a great tone, meandering about here and there, giving away to the arpeggio and then BLAMMO! with the distortion. Nice.
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10qLYy6hiFQ]YouTube - Eric Clapton - I Shot the Sheriff[/ame] Absolutely mind blowing! Peace.
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peTnXclTFrQ]YouTube - Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Down By The River[/ame] I really like the solo around 1:53... simple, but bold Also the opening riff is pretty shnazzy
The most technically impressive solo I've ever heard is Buckethead's Jordan... Greatest solo of all time is probably Hendrix's Voodoo Chile (Slight Return). Jesus, that track is just the epitome of guitar. IMO the best example of guitar playing ever recorded.
Id probably go with Funkadelic - Maggot Brain. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dh3bleXWaCk]YouTube - Funkadelic - Maggot Brain[/ame]
Zeppelin's Stairway live, Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Buckethead's Too Many Humans, Racer X's Technical Difficulties, all of John Frusciante's improv from Chili's live
Duane Allman killing it starting at 2:35 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IFB9Q_3t_k&feature=related]YouTube - Hey Jude (Wilson Pickett)[/ame]
I wanted to post more than 1 video, but maybe later This is for fun, but [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czpwrg8zNls&feature=related]YouTube - Buckethead Solo (awesome)[/ame]
I had to come back Not as many people familiar with Ron Thal/Bumblefoot [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayh_UMV3Mlc]YouTube - Guns N' Roses - guitar solo by Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal - Live In Osaka, Japan 12/16/09[/ame]
thats a tough question but i would say either little wing by jimi hendrix or three days by jane's addiction both are epic
True, but this one ranks as one of the greatest for me [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBQPkLuwy80]YouTube - Frank Zappa - Watermelon In Easter Hay - 1988 Bar[/ame]
Anything Zappa does is pretty epic. All of the solos in this song are pretty damn good. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPM6ni4bQzc]YouTube - Deep Purple Lazy[/ame]
