Favorite Dry Herb Portable Vaporizer?

Discussion in 'Vaporizers' started by Sweatloaf, Sep 10, 2023.

  1. What is your favorite dry herb vaporizer? I see there are similar threads but most were started a few years ago. I've never owned a dry herb vape and want to branch out with one. I'd like one that's easy to clean, solidly built and has the vape channel (or whatever you'd call the interior area of the vaporizer that the vapor makes contact with) to be an inert substance like glass, etc. I'd rather buy something well made and safe rather than something the opposite.

    Any opinions would be appreciated.

POTV has some moderately priced dry herb vapes that are pretty good

  4. 1-sutra-mini-key-features__09228.jpg I bought a Sutra mini at my local headshop for $100. I looked it up and several companies sell the exact same one under different brand names. Works just fine for dry herb, has a crystal thing for oils. (I guess, never used it)
Pick your temp, start it and you get I think 300 seconds before it shuts off to refill. Well worth the $ in my opinion.

I have a Pax Plus, it has been a game changer for me. I got for $80 off of the $350 asking price on Pax’s website with a coupon and their 420 deals website wide. Anyway
It lasts for many sessions for four different temp settings and a super fast preheat time (around 10-15 secs depending on temp selection), I love bud by far the most of any cannabis product, it was like a green hit every time but with extra flavor and aroma. The smell level is so minimal, especially with the setting on discreet, the grinding of the bud has way more smell than does the vapor. Also with the settings it’s easy to dial in how strong per hit you want it to be. The device is tiny too, maybe 4 inches tall, it easily fits in a shirt pocket or pant pocket without being noticeable. The build is incredible, they are often compared to Apple because of the quality and their packaging.
The first buds I vaped were Blueberry and Super Boof. Both over the 30% thx mark but were still super smooth and the taste and aroma were astounding, they also dont weaken as you vape until they’re cashed out.
I can’t recommend it highly enough. Hope this helps.

  7. I ended up buying a DaVinci IQ2. My main reason for the decision was the fact that the entire pathway (ie the bowl and air chamber) is either ceramic (bowl) or glass so there's no plastics and they've said no lead or heavy metals. I haven't used it that much yet because my current grow isn't complete, but I like it on the lower two settings. It's all metal so it is a bit heavy. We'll see how it goes.

  8. Glad you got a dry herb vape. To me there’s no comparison to any other vape except a live rosin or resin. I had a 1g Blue Cookies live resin vape cartridge with a cc cell bottom vape unit. It was fantastic all throughout its life span. But after I tried a cheap dry herb vape a bit later and I was blown away by its smoothness and taste.
    Anyway

How are you liking your DaVinci so far?

  9. Things I like about it:

    • Easy to clean for the most part. I do wish the actual bowl was removable too but it's not. Still it's easy to get to and swab out as needed.
    • I've mainly been using the lowest two presets. The highest pre-set (#4) gets up to 430 degrees. The reason I bought a dry herb vape is to vape rather than smoke. Gone are my days of always having my dugout, brass one hitter and zippo at my side... Also, you can set the temp to whatever you want if you don't want to use the presets.
    • A main reason I bought this one is because the entire path the vapor takes is either glass or lead/heavy metal free ceramic. No plastic.
    • It's solid. That's both a plus and a minus. Sucker is heavy. It's basically a hunk of metal after all. It feels good in the hand but it is heavy.
Things I don't like about it:
    • The battery life is dismal. I'm definitely going to buy at least one other rechargeable battery for it. At the end of one bowl/sesh, the battery is already flashing low.
I haven't used the water adapter that came with it so I can't comment on that. It also comes with a disc for concentrates but I haven't used that so I can't comment on that either.

  11. I know Storz and Bickel uses "medical grade plastic" for their units and apparently that kind of plastic has a high temp threshold, but I can't get past the vaping through plastic idea. It probably comes from me being ignorant about "medical grade plastic" and whether it's inert at temps of 400 degrees or below?

I've been a fan of Pax for a while now. My only complaint is that its too easy to lose the pricey device once you are well baked. However I did find a Pax 2 online for $100, which is a great deal.

  14. I have a Pax mini don’t like it

  15. ^ Wow, if you don't already work for Pax, it's a crime for them not to have you on their payroll!
