nah man, ive seen The Dead without jerry a couple of times. and ive seen phil lesh and friends and ive seen ratdog a few times. never got a chance to see the fatman.
Favs The Other One Born Crossed-Eyed Estimated Prophet Shakedown Street Eyes of the World Hell in a Bucket Throwing Stones Help on the Way/Slipknot All Along the Watchtower Terrapin Station And have seen The Dead 5 or 6 times in the last few years with my dad
ya my uncle was a dead head he saw them with jerry like 200 times i guess my other uncle and my aunt went too but they went more for the party scene and to selll merchandise
My dad was a total dead head in the late 70's to know and and up till now he kept all of his tickets and he has 255 or something
The deadhead era was before my time but yea dude one of my bosses was a MAJOR deadhead he saw over 300 shows or something, he told us stories how they would show up, play music in the back of their pickup, then just pack up and leave afterwards. Thats hardcore. I think most anyone who was a true deadhead saw at least 200 shows, they were maniacs
Yea my dad was telling me that him and his buddies would show up in his truck with a keg and atleast an Oz playing tunes real loud, he also said that it was a big ass party in the parking lot, every drug imaginable, my dad barley remembers the 80's up until i was born then everyhting still slowed down, but once i got into it our relationship grew incredibly
Jack Straw, Box of Rain, Terrapin Station, China Cat Sunflower, Saint Stephen, Franklin's Tower, The Wheel, uh Cassidy, Tennessee Jed...just to name a few, haha. Haha, I just noticed we were supposed to name 3...whoops.
i like box of rain prolly the most but there is a ton that love to, im really just gettin into them, im not old enough to have seen them live but i have bought a few of their live dvds, i got trucking up to buffalo and another but i cant think of the name, yea they were a great band RIP Jerry and the others that past away
No one but jerry is dead the swore if one of them died they would never play under the name The Grateful Dead, they simply go by The Dead and still tour together
you are mistaken my friend. they never made any type of promise like that. jerry was not the first member of the band to die. pigpen and brent mydland were keyboardists for the dead until they died. i think pigpen died in 1973 and brent died in 1990. i might be a little off with the years though.
Yea that was the early years before they got big, look it up, the swore they would never play under the original name
you consider 1990 the "early years"? i highly doubt they would make that promise after 1990 b/c bobby and jerry werent really into the dead that much anymore. jerry was havin a lot more fun with jgb then and you can even see that in his performances. it is just a rumor that they decided they wouldnt play under that name anymore. they took a break and changed the name b/c they realized that without jerry, they are not the same band. they knew the fans wouldnt be cool with it, and that they would just be a nostalgia act. hell, they even needed two lead guitarists (warren haynes and jimmy herring) just to fill jerrys shoes in the dead.
Pigpen was the early years I never said that the 90s were the early years, He died before they got real commercial
