  1. I was just wondering who everyones favorite authors were, been trying to think of something new to read.

Mine are Joseph Conrad, Isaac Asimov and John Steinbeck

    How about you guys?
  2. I'm not a big reader of Fiction titles but Hunter S. Thompson is one of my favorite authors.
  3. Charles Dickens and Christopher Moore, among many others...
  4. Chuck Palahniuk and George Orwell. I've also really gotten into Bukowski the last year or so. Other than those guys I've only read a book or two from most authors.
  5. Heinlein, Pratchett, Gaiman, Huxley, Kesey, Vinge, Lovecraft.
Dan Abnett has some good reads in the warhammer universe.
Hard to go wrong with Neal Stephenson.
Mark Z. Danielewski's House of Leaves. Read that.
I will certainly second the recommendations of Hunter S. Thompson and Chuck Palahniuk.
  6. Alduous Huxley, Michael Crichton, George Saunders, Robin Cook.
  7. Steinbeck and Crichton are my favorites right now.

Gordon Korman is the single best childrens' author, though. I loved his stuff when I was a kid.
  8. Stephen King
  9. Edger Allen Poe, books are weird, but I love them.

  11. I would determine my answer as to how many of that author's books I've read. I would say....

Chuck Paliuihnuik (I know I butchered the spelling )
    Kurt Vonnugut
    Dean Koontz
  12. I know someone already said this, but he deserves to be on here 2x. Hunter S. Thompson. Some day when I have more time, I'd like to read all of his books. Fear and Loathing and The Rum Diary are both great. Everything he writes is so profound and quotable.

"All energy flows according to the whims of the Great Magnet. What a fool I was to defy Him! I was going back to Vegas--I had no choice."
  13. The Rum Diary by Hunter S. Thompson.

    Junky by William S. Burroughs
  14. Ayn Rand, George Orwell, Douglas Adams, Carl Sagan, and Robert A. Heinlein
  15. Somerset Maugham, John Keegan, David Quammen, Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, Bill Bryson
  16. Brian Keene, Darren Shan( The Demonata), and Michael Crichton..so far.
  17. Patricia Cornwell
  18. Chuck Palahniuk
    HP Lovecraft
    Aldus Huxley
    Hunter S Tompson
    Brad Meltzer
    Carl Sagan
    George Orwell
    Tucker Max
    Greg isles
  19. Patrick Rothfuss
    Orson Scott Card
