Fan problem

  1. I have a problem with my extraction fan, it's an in line 6inch SP TD Silent, an acoustic fan which cost £150!
    I have it set on the slow setting(it is two speed) when I went in my rom today the humidity was high and temp was high and the fan wasn't working. I replaced the fuse, still not working. Took the fan out and put the old noisy one back. Took fan into she'd and plugged in, it would work when I turned the motor and kept going but then wouldnt start from off. I thought that I would wire in the fast side of the fan, see if that works, wired the positive and negative through the slow and fast connectors! I had taken the negative out and wired it into the fast connection with the positive still in the slow one if that makes sense? Anyway when I switched it on their was a loud pop and the breaker tripped but now or won't work at all. Is it completely fucked or could I get it repaired?
    Moral don't do wiring blazed.:smoking::(

    From what it sounds, it's shot. No warranty?

  5. I can't find where I bought it? I have checked all my bank statements, PayPal, nothing. Its doing my head in.

  7. :confused:Tried that as well and rang four of them, it's a complete bleddy mystery?

  8. u basically created a looping current when u linked the fast and slow settings thus meaning it turned the internal wiring into one big fuse,.... that was what the pop was
