Fan Placement inside Stealth Box

  1. Searched, but couldn't find much. Just wondering what is the right way, or more effective way, to mount exhaust fans? Like my computer fan I am using.. has the 4 holes for mounting. I drilled the holes in the back of the box and got it mounted, but should the actual fan be mounted on the inside or the outside of the box? I don't really see a difference, but would like a second opinion if possible.

  2. If its a stealth box, wouldnt you want the fans on the inside?

  3. Very true, BUT I guess I should have given a few more details. My box is going to be hidden.. and somewhat stealth. The fan that attaches to the carbon scrubber already sticks out the back.. no matter what way I put it, so it don't really matter (to me) which way the fan is mounted. I would just like to find the better method to remove extra heat.

  4. It doesn't matter how you set it (inside or outside) as long as you have it sucking warm air out of the box. i would suggest to fans one bringing in fresh air at a slow constant rate and one exhausting hot air out of the box.

  6. Hmm.. I thought that would be best at first too, but I read elsewhere that you shouldn't have a fan blowing any air inside the box, but have holes drilled with PVC elbows, and the exhaust fan creates a 'negative?' pressure, forcing air through the inlet holes you drilled.

I really hope this makes since because I am kinda high right now.. :smoke:

  7. a pretty good rule to go by is you want the exhaust cfm to be double the intake if using intake and exhaust fans. you want neg psi in box. so like two exhaust and one intake fan if you want or just one exhaust fan but you also dont want the intake holes to be to large(wont get neg psi in box. this is for smell. if you have pos psi in box the air(smell) WILL find a way out making your scrubber useless. I hope that I explained this well enough
