Fan Mounting Question?

  1. So ive been messing with my setup and just invested in a tent, trying to keep the temps down im wondering if mounting the fan directly on the hoods, pulling air and exhausting out instead of sucking through ducting to the outside where the fan is pulling and exhausting directly to outdoors will cause more air movement in the tent directly over the heat of the lamps or would it not do anything? I know its not moving more air persay, but im thinking moving air strongest over the lights will keep it cool... Currently running seedlings of durban posion, skywalker kush, pretty lights, and blue dream auto under a 1000w mh at 75% dim @ 43 inches away, temps are starting to creep up it was at 70 and it needed to be a bit warmer but now its at 74 and im worried for when the lights get closer and when im flip to hps for flowering at the full 1000w while running a 75% 1000w for mothers and clones on the other side of the tent.

I'm assuming you don't have a cool tube. That would be the best way to cool the lamp. It places the air flow directly over the bulb where ever you place it.

I would say try testing out different locations with your lamp and place a thermometer in the cab that records the highest temps, but you already have some plants in there. hmmm...

  3. Yeah they are just seedlings and easy to move around though, its a 4x8 with only one lamp in the middle of it for now using it for storage too which is nice. Im thinking the fan directly on the sealed hood may actually work best as it is the strongest direct airflow which is the key to the success of the cool tubes. All in all it doesnt seem to have a temperature problem yet, but id rather have the equipment set up for when it does. Will mounting it there effect the way the negative pressure behaves in the tent as there is more of a vaccum with a sealed ducting design rather than sucking through the light which is in closer contact with the open air?
