I hope this isn't a dumb question, but what are fan leaves and what distinguishes them from other leaves?
It's what you would think of as the regular leaves. They are called "fan" leaves because the blades are spread out like a fan. These might be distinguished from the cotelydons, the two little starter leaves, and the "bud" leaves, tiny leaves that are part of the bud.
