Here's a couple of updated pics of my Ice plant (feminized). I'm growing with a 400W MH light for the vegging stage, and I've only used nutes on it once. I've had several grows already but not with the strain. The other grows were bag seedm and they must have been a sativa because they grew tall, not short and bushy like this one. I'm wondering about the size of the fan leaves, they are huge. They seem to kind of block the other parts of the plant. Will their size affect the growth of the buds that much? Should I maybe take some of them off to get better light? Everything I've read says that not enough light will affect the bud growth, but then people also say not to remove the fan leaves, because they are vital to the growth of the plant. I did trim on another grow but that was later (just before flowering stage)
I trim the yellowing fan leaves from the bottom of the plants, but i leave the others alone. The fan leaves are important for the growth of the plant, once the plant is put into flowering i believe they can be trimmed. But find out some other opinions first. Large fan leaves are the sign of a very healthy plant, whatever your doing, your doing it right.
Dont cut the sun leaves... They are like solar panels they take in energy, if you are trying to get light into other buds just tie the plant a bit check my grow I tied them to side of pots and it seems fine. also you can tuck the sun leaves in behind other parts of the plant dont cut her she is your BABY luck after her she will luck after you. I would def go with LST method on that plant My first grow http://forum.grasscity.com/general-indoor-growing/126382-my-first-grow-what-do-you-think.html Looks nice keep it up
Thanks for the replies. I am tucking the fan leaves under as much as I can for now. As for the LST, I would like try it. But I don't think I want to try it on this one. I'm afraid of screwing it up, and I don't have any weed to smoke right now. So I want to get this grow out of the way first. Also, isn't this plant a little mature for LST. It's going on it's 8th node right now. I thought that you should start LST when it's on it's 3rd or 4th node. Wouldn't it be harder to get the stem to bend without breaking it? And isn't this pot a little small for LST, or doesn't the size of the pot really matter? I guess I could slowly pull the stem down bit by bit possibly. Allright thanks again, I'll think about the LST.
LSTing is pretty fool proof man. You could still start now if you wanted to. I don't really know how tough your stem is but I didn't start tying mine down till later than average. If you're afraid of breakage, just pull down the stem some, and then a little more each day. That pot size should be fine. There are different levels of LSTing. Some will pull back growth like crazy, until they are left with a little MJ bush. You don't have to go that crazy though. Just pull the stem down and tie back some of the branches to let some light on the lower parts of the plant.
Here is a perfect example of a MJ bush first pic is younger than second pic. But no really man do lst on that plant you will be glad you did just be careful with is and tie it down a little at a time.
