I'm doing a stealth grow in a closet, so noise is a serious nono. I'm only growing one plant with cfls, and I'm wondering how essential air circulation is for plant growth, or if i can get away without it. Anything louder than the fan of a computer is too loud. Any help would be great.
You can get away without it, but taller plants will need to be staked or the heavy buds will topple the plant. A fan in a grow box serves more than circulation. The airflow also helps the plant grow strong stems and trunk, lowers humidity. it's a good idea to use a fan. For the noise, is the fan vibrating. Some cheap fans are out of balance and rattle. You can damp the virbration by placing the fan on a towel or cardboard away from a side wall. There's not much you can do about the whoosing sound of air moving other than finding a fan that is quiet.
u can get a pretty quiet exhaust fan at home depot but itll cost u about 100 bucks. or u could just use some computer fans theres a few threads about using computer fans. but u need a fan for ventilation, ur plant needs fresh air to breath unless u supply it with co2. also like the guy above me said, be prepared for smell. there r oder eliminating cfls out there, but thats a controversial subject because i dont kno what they emit to ur plants, plus when u go to 12/12 ur gonna hav 12 stinky hours. or if u vent it good enough into a carbon filter u should b ok.
