"September 11, 2001,
Terrorists attack the Pentagon and the World Trade Center
Kills thousand and permanently scars America's false sense of security
We see the best examples of humanity in the face of the worst
As fire fighters, police officers, rescue workers
and volunteers of all sorts, fight to save lives
The world will never be the same again
"
I don't really have much to say about this one. Except over the years after this incident I noticed less and less people along side of the road would wave to me or say hi. It's a sad truth.... (The Proud)

"August 4, 2001
A drunken police officer mows down an entire family in Brooklyn
The judge lets him go with no bail
It reminds us, of just how worthless our lives are to the justice system
I struggle, to explain the situation to my son, it's hard'
People cant handle the truth. (The Proud)

"Just because no one can understand what you speak,
don't necessarily mean what you be saying is deep"

^ This quote gets to me. He states this upon every other rapper out there. There's all these gangster ass rappers out there where you cant understand any fucking thing they're saying! It pisses me off because talib speaks the truth yo, you cant understand anything these other rappers are saying!

"The real thugz is the government,
it don't matter if your independent, democratic or republican!"

- Reflection Eternal

"The presidents a bush and the vice presidents a dick,
so a whole lotta fuckin is what we gonna get!!!!

- 2001 ahahaha ^ that one kills me

"But it's hard for me to walk down the block
Seeing rats and roaches, crack viles and 40 ounce posters
People broken down from years of oppression
Become patriots when they way of life is threatened
"
This is down right ridiculous. I live in a wealthy neighborhood. If I walk 4 miles through my town I end up in a city that's described just like this one.
(The Proud)

"N1ggaz with knowledge,
is more dangerous than than n1ggaz with guns,
They make the guns easy to get
and try to keep n1ggaz dumb
"
Maybe if the government put a ban on guns all together shit like this wouldn't have to happen? (The Proud)

Talib Kweli
A scholar
Ghetto philosopher
3 time noble piece prize winner
From Brooklyn, NY

I could go off with funny ass or truth handling quotes from him all day. Talib Kweli is hands down, my most favorite rapper. In the States he's just about the only one to rap about relevant shit in society. I hope to meet this man before I die...

If anyone is in the mood to listen to a good lyrical song, check out "The Proud" by talib kweli. It's insane.

EDIT: Yes there's bad words in here...I'm still posting them.

2. "people thinkin MC is shorthand for misconception"

thats the only one i can think of right now

3. Just gone done with a sesh listening to 'Put It In the Air'....Talib is mad fresh!

Was fortunate to see the guy perform twice at two different values, once by himself and the other with Mos Def.

Real hip hop at its finest!

4. Ohhh yeah mos def is mad good too. You ever heard the remix's 'mos dub' ?

5. "Dig a proper ditch, you lying like a politician
Your proposition meets opposition like contradictions
Get out my house, you ain't no real representative
I make it happen, you ain't official, you tentative"

6.
Ohhh yeah mos def is mad good too. You ever heard the remix's 'mos dub' ?
Of course I have! It's Mos Def lyrics over dub reggae..some great great music!
