Anyone play fallout 3? I'll be playing it this weekend stoned off some dank... Just wondering if anyone has any tips/tricks for it.
Heh, there's a fatty thread on it elsewhere, but ya, I've got a tip for you: Use mods. You're gaming on a PC, right? Go visit fallout3nexus.com and go through their top 100 list as well as mod of the month lists and pick up some mods. If you want a nice load order list, let me know and I'd be happy to give you my very stable list. Fook2 and MMM are both mods that you NEED to have.
Take your time. Get faded and emerge yourself. this game is great for those with payshents (fuck that word)and imagination. Hit me up, gamertag: Nikotine 666
I played Fallout 3 nonstop till I beat the game. Tip: Get Lincoln's Repeater, its in the Licoln museum. Its such a bitching weapon.
Man... I've died so many fucking times trying to get to this damn museum. Please post a link or something explaining the best way to get there? All my weapons blow shit balls. I don't even use VATS because I never do enough damage - pisses me off.
The repeater is garbage once you get the Point Lookout, and it's the Museum of History, not the "Licoln museum." Go to Anacostia Station just north of the ramp that leads to the bridge platform at Rivet City. Go down there, kill he shit out of all the raiders along the way and at the other end of the tracks you'll emerge literally right in front of the museum. I can't remember, but I think one of the platforms at that end also leads to the exit in front of the Museum of Technology, which really doesn't matter because they're so close, anyway. I really can't figure out why anyone would have a hard time getting there, or have weapons that don't do any damage. My theory is that it's not the wapon's fault....
Fallout 3 is definitely one of the best games for the 360. I've heard they're making a new one too, Fallout: New Vegas.
[quote name='Blutteufel']The repeater is Garbage once you get the Point Lookout, and it's the Museum of History, not the "Licoln museum." Isn't point lookout the expansion? The guy just started playing the game, so who cares if won't be good later, he needs something to help him now, and the repeater will help him now. And yea Museum of History, lol, all i could remember was looking for Lincoln artifacts there.
Indeed, they are making it, and with some of the people that worked on the original Fallout games back at the legendary Black Isle. Those guys made some of the best games around, even though Baldur's Gate did fuck me up real bad when I started playing D&D with 3.5 rules.... Anyway, I was hoping they would make a game set in a real desert - you know, places that look like this, but maybe with a really sandy area complete with dunes and shit every now and then - instead of that half-assed attempt they call the Capital Wasteland. I'm not quite following you here....
Well you said "The repeater is garbage once you get the Point Lookout" which I assumed to mean that it was garbage once you got some experience and enemies became harder. My point is it will benefit Brumac cause it sounds like he is having a hard time finding any weapons, and this early in the game the Repeater will cause some damage.
He probably said it was useless because you can get the backwater rifle, which is basically the same gun but does more damage and uses more abundant ammo.
thats awesome they are making one that takes place in vegas. I played the first two about 3 times each and setting it on the east coast sort of messed with the atmosphere, i miss the tribals man. anyone remember grampy bone?
Oh, ok, that makes more sense, he never mentioned that gun, the sentence was cut short or something. If the OP has the Point Lookout expansion he should definitely get that gun over LR. I have fallout 3 for the ps3 and no add ons have been released for that platform yet.
One of the best guns you can get is the A3-21's Plasma Rifle. You get it early on in the game and it really helps. It turns everything to green goo when it hits critical. You get it doing The Replicated Man side mission.
I play Fallout 3 when I'm stoned...or at least I try to. I usually just end up aimlsessly wandering around the wasteland until a Deathclaw kills me
This is the part I don't understand - you keep suggesting that it's "early in the game," which is completely irrelevant to the fact that the repeater is crappy compared to the bcakwater rifle.
Where can you get the Backwater Rifle? The best weapon I have at the moment in terms of wasting enemies is The Terrible Shotgun. So long as your character can take a few hits, once you get in close you will take out any enemy in 1-3 shots depending on how good your small guns rating is. I took out a Deathclaw in two shots using it, and they're the most brutal enemy on the game.
You get the backwater rifle in the Point Lookout DLC. It's well worth it, though, because you also get a perk called Ghoul Ecology that is bugged in such a way that instead of letting you do an extra 5 damage to ghouls like it's supposed to, it adds that 5 to damage to any creature. You get another one called Superior Defender that adds a further +5 to all damage (as well as +10 to your DR), but only when you're standing still. So, with that in mind, let's compare the two: Lincoln's Repeater: - Fires .44 rounds, which are not commonly found and are only found in small quantities in stores, and even then not all places stock them - 15-round capacity - 50 damage per shot - Uses 25 AP for VATS shots - Has 600 HP - Can be repaired with commonly available hunting rifles - 0.0 spread, meaning that your bullets will always hit exactly where you aim - x2 critical multiplier Backwater Rifle: - Fires 10mm rounds, commonly found on many enemies, in containers and damn near everywhere in the game, and many stores carry over 50 rounds at a time - 10-round capacity - 45 damage per shot - Uses 30 AP for VATS shots - Has 700 HP - Can only be repaired with less-common lever-action rifles - 0.25 spread, so your bullets might occasionally be an inch or two off target, so it really doesn't make a difference most of the time - x5 critical multiplier If you have the right stats, the backwater rifle is a fucking monster. I have 10 Luck, Finesse, Better Criticals, Ghoul Ecology, Superior Defender and 100 Small Guns, which means that every shot does 55 damage, but it will likely do much more, because with Luck maxed out, 10 out of 9 shots I make are criticals (that's right, 10 out of 9; it's fuckin' crazy). Finesse gives you the equivalent of 5 extra Luck points, and with the x5 critical multiplier on that beast, that means the critical damage is about 412, compared to the repeater's 120. If I also had Bloody Mess it would probably be around 432, but I never took that perk. However, most people will probably just end up with 225 damage without all the same stats, which is still far better than the repeater's 100 damage. Lastly, deathclaws ain't shit, man. Feral ghoul reavers are the devil, and albino radscoprions and super mutant overlords aren't much better. You don't have to worry about any of those unless you have Broken Steel, but damn, those critters are powerful. Their stats are a lot higher than those of your average deathclaw, too. For example, the reavers have 1100 HP as opposed to the a deathclaw's 500, not to mention that they are more resistant to damage and can toss radioactive shit at you from like 400 feet away. I can drop a deathclaw with a few shots from A3-21's plasma rifle at 30 yards, but I have yet to kill a feral ghoul reaver after emptying an entire "clip" into its face from less than two feet away.
Picked up the repeater last night. Much better damage! I just need to find more .44 ammo for it. I finally got super armor training done from the Paladin Gunny at the Citadel so I'm hunting for enclave troops or something to kill for better armor now. Thanks everyone for their help! I sure do appreciate it.
