I was curious if this is a big problem, my plants are getting this odd yellow color on them. Any thoughts on what might be causeing this. I am using Dynagrow nutes regular dosage 1.5 tsp per gallon of water. PH at 6.5 to 6.7. 8 gallon bubbleponic system, 150 watt HPS and two 150 watt CFLs Thanks for the help all.
hydro...you're ph is way too high. 5.8 - 6.0 is a good range. lower your ph and leave it be for a bit see how it does. How old is your plant, and what are your ppm's??? Good luck with your grow Doin'
Thanks for the reply, too high huh. I usually have it closer to 6.0 I will check it tomorrow and get it lower, I just bought a digital PH meter so that I can have a more accurate reading. It is 21 days old I don't know the parts per million (. Thanks again!
You're very welcome glad to hear you got ph meter edit: I noticed in the pics that the tips of the leaves are turning brown. 1) could be because you're ph is off causing burn because uptake of nutes is affected by the high ph range. 2) could be because your ppm's are too high. do you have a TDS meter so you can monitor the ppm's? If not, if the very tips of the leaves start turning brown, back off the nutes as that's an indicator that they've had what they can take and are starting to burn. another indicator that your nute levels are too high is when the ph keeps dropping. Just a couple tips to help you out. IMHO...I wouldn't wait until tomorrow to lower your ph with it being so high atm (if you have access to your grow today). PH being off can cause lock out, deficiencies and toxicity of various vital nutes. My two cents. Do you have a grow journal?
Should I get a TDS meter? I bought the PH meter but now need the storage solution..just bought the basic Hanna PH tester. Wow I need to change the water anyway you think since it has been 21 days in the bubbleponic system? They seem to be sucking down the water fast, have added several gallons in the 3 weeks. On next water fill I should just add ph'd water without nutes? The ph lvl stays at even 6.0 most of the time. Thank you again for the two cents keep them coming please ) Yes I have a grow journal it is http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-grow-journals/543781-sour-diesel-grown-bubbleponic-system.html Thank you again for the help.
Glad to hear that the ph is pretty stable most of the time. Yes, I would recommend getting a TDS meter. It wouldn't hurt to do a water change, if you want to. As far as adding water back to the system, you can top off with plain ph'd water through the week and do a nute mix to get the ppm's where you want them once a week. thanks for the link for your journal, I'll be by to check it out. You're very welcome newbhydrogrower!
So everytime I add water it should not be nute treated? I will make sure to use Ph balanced water for the rest of the week only, will the nute burned tips ever heal? Since it is in a bubble system I have been asking the person that sold it to me questions on the nute mix.. I am confused on this since what he tells me conflicts with the directions on the dynagrow bottle. At the start of my forth week they are pretty tall should I go full nutes after this week? Thanks again
That's correct. Unfortunately, the damage (burn / ph spots) will not go away. So keep an eye on the new growth, it'll tell ya if everythings on track The leaves that are slightly yellow should green back up. Is he's telling you to use more or less then what's recommended on the dynagrow bottle Honestly, I would NOT go full strength. You need to give her time to recover from high ph, and burn because she's stressed. You should see a big difference in about a week or so, if not before. Keep in mind that some strains are more finicky then others and prefer ppm's on the lighter side through each growth cycle, i.e. burnt tips. You're very welcome!
" Is he's telling you to use more or less then what's recommended on the dynagrow bottle " Yeah he is telling me to go 1.5 tsp per gallon. I will have new pictures in a few days. "The leaves that are slightly yellow should green back up. " Seems to be a stronger yellow and the tester I bought does not work . So I am just slightly annoyed..I hope they answer soon so i can purchase a new one. Once again I thank you for the help.
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that the tester that you got is not working hope you hear back from them soon and are able to get a replacement asap. I googled dyna-grown nutes and found their feeding schedule. If you're dosing at the level they recommended at this stage (grow, magpro, protek-t) not including the ppm's of your water, you'll be at 750 - 760 ppm's. IMO that's too high for veg, I have plants more then 1/2 way thru flower right now and the ppm's are around 900, which includes the ppm's from the water. IMO, You could use 50% of what Dyna-grow recommends at this stage and it should be fine. Good luck! Doin'
Change the water every 7-10 days. 21 days if far too long to stay in the same water. Thats my 2 cents Oh.....they look pretty good for your first time by the way. Good job so far. A ph and ppm pen will make all of the difference.
