Eye Lighting Shutting Down

  1. Eye Lighting to Close Operations

Hope this doesn't affect those of us who love Hortilux HPS. Seems like there's ample inventories still available online; however, all of the local grow shops in my area are pretty much out of stock already especially the 1000w bulbs.

  2. I used their HPS on my last grow and harvest. It was my nicest grow yet. Now I've switched over to HLG LED to save on electricity and hopefully will have a comparable or better end result.

  3. Very interesting. I've been considering switching over to LED also just a little concerned it's going to be very expensive seeing as I'm currently set up for flowering with three 1000w HPS large octagon reflectors hung in a triangle pattern so I can have many plants spread out in a large room. Trying to cover that same area with LED seems like it's going to take a lot of new fixtures like this. https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/collections/all/products/hlg-750-diablo

It would indeed be an investment. It all depends on your circumstances. My grow tent setup is in my bedroom, which is on the same breaker as the other bedroom in the house. I had to worry about tripping the breaker when bedroom 2 is using the gaming computer. It's also a bit less noise overall to run, don't have to listen to the high pitch ballast.

  5. cheaper to build a custom job for yourself?
keep in mind with LEDs you only need 700umols anymore you will need C02
which is easy done these days with the latest diodes

    cheers

    ps I miss my hps's

  6. Yes circumstances a dominating factor in everybody's garden but for a grow tent, LED definitely seems like a better choice. I assume with LED there would be less heat output also which can be more of a problem in smaller spaces. In my case the flower room is in a cool basement so the heat from HPS is almost necessary especially in the winter. Would be nice if I could upgrade gradually one fixture at a time but I'm guessing that's probably not advisable.

  8. https://www.edenzhydro.com/blogs/ne...are-flooding-the-market-accept-no-substitutes
This place is selling bulbs by the pallet for 15K and there's supposedly a shortage? :confusedalt::toke:

Something seems odd about Eye Lighting going out of business. I mean the reasons they listed in the first article I posted make sense but to me even with the growing LED market it seems strange there still wouldn't be a huge demand out there for HPS and incentive for component suppliers to capitalize on the opportunity. Not everybody can afford LED especially in the beginning with all these new startup grow ops needed to supply the recent legal weed states.

I understand the problem of inflation and supply chain issues but I would think supply chains are steadily improving after covid and inflation will go down sooner rather than later? I don't know what I'm talking about. :smoke:
