I saw a thread saying that Requiem for a Dream was the most fucked up movie. What do you guys think? My choices are: Saw or Se7en. The Mothman Prophecies definately gave me chills the entire movie, and that's the only movie that's been able to do that for me sadly haha.
fucked up how? As in gore and what-not? Definately the Guinea Pig films... The Devils Experiment and Flowers of Flesh and Blood. link The August Underground movies are pretty good too - (This one's great because it has the same premise as Henry Portrait of Serial killer, but you only see through their camera) link Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer, ofcourse. American Psycho the movie, was less than violent. There was no violence in it at all, so it's not even worth mentioning except the book is great. Movies that fuck with your head is what I really love. Anything by Lynch will make you think, If you like those kinds of films check out 'Snuff'. Old, gritty - and badly dubbed (ofcourse on purpose, has a nice effect overall) It's old, i think from the 70's. Ichi the Killer, and Audition.
I forgot some more recent movies. Hostel, 8mm, Cabin Fever, Battle Royale, House of 1000 Corpses, And not gore-wise, but just in a matter of ethics, 'Blue Velvet' (one of my favorite movies)
If we're talking disturbing here, i'm gonna have to go with Lynch. Eraserhead, Lost Highway, Blue Velvet, The Grandmother, and his new lumiere` thing. As far as cronenberg goes, I'd have to say Dead Ringers weirded me out a little. Videodrome too, oh, and the violence in "A History of Violence" Was amazing! Not clean-cut and very realistic. No exagerrated sound effects - just perfect.
Requiem for a dream FTW! it might not be as disturbing as some crazy ass japanese movie that just shows some sicko cut someone up for an hour but its such a fucking good movie. Se7en is not EXTREMELY fucked up but it was a pretty cool movie compared to other horror/thrillers out. I know people already said those two but i cant think of any others at the time
My god, I can't believe I forgot FWWM. Definately goes up there, -Not disturbing at all, but did you ever see "The Cowboy and the Frenchmen?" With Harry Dean Stanton? Cracks me up man,
someone mentioned cabin fever....yeah that movie is pretty fucked up. Watch it if you havnt, its about a bunch of kids who get some flesh eating disease in the woods.
I've found recently that Lynch's short film "The Grandmother" Is a little more bareable than eraserhead, and definately a great film. I wouldn't say Better (eraserhead is classic!) But one i can watch (more) often.
it took 4 times to make it all the way through se7en, kept falling asleep..it wasnt the best movie. The Dark Crystal is a pretty fucked up movie. Yeah Donnie Darko is the shit weve watched that like 10 times obviously ripped.
Donnie Darko??? Saw 2??? Requiem For a Dream??? Seven?? I'm unclear what kind of movies we're talking about guys. ... ^^ And yea, I watched The Dark Crystal for fun after we smoked not that long ago. I never picked up those subtle molesting parts... Eww, "haha, i'm taking a bath"
Im watching August Underground right now, and it is hands down the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my entire life. I mean Saw, Donnie Darko, even Hostel is no where near this movie as far as disturbing. Download it, torrentspy.com
Ichi the Killer is probably one of the most fucked up movies I've seen. The two main characters are ridiculous. Ichi is this quiet japanese man that literally orgasms at the sight of any hard violence such as a scene where a girl is getting raped and beaten and he is sitting outside jerking off. And the other main character is addicted to pain and he cuts part of his tounge out to pay his apologies for hanging a yakuza general by suspension hooks and sticking little metal spears through his face and puring boiling water on his head and back. And right after he cuts out his tounge, while bleeding profusly(sp?), answers and chats on his cellphone like nothing happened.
