We are all famiatliar with animals, plants, fungi, and bacteria as types of life. One thing they all have in common is they are all cellular lifeforms meaning they have cell membranes that make up individual parts of them (though bacteria are only one cell). What about non-cellular life? Viruses for one are just strands of DNA or RNA that hijack their host cells cellular machinery Non-cellular life - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypothetical_types_of_biochemistry Crazy shit to think about
the devil worm, the plastic eating fungus, viruses which arent technically alive... yes life in all of its forms is crazy to think about. The one conclusion i have been able to come up with is.... we are not alone in the universe. Im 100% positive aliens exist, and im 90% positive they have visited earth already. ever heard of the zoo hypothesis? Zoo hypothesis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
That's really cool. I think the most interesting one on that page of "hypothetical biochemistry" is the non-planetary life. There's no reason clouds of dust and plasma couldn't form into life forms under the right conditions, but fuck if that isn't a bizarre departure from what we think of as "life".
Some people talk about mushroom mycelium as a giant type of brain. Certain parts release chemicals which send signals to other parts.....just like a brain does. The problem I always think of with dust based life is how do you organize information so that it can be stored or read later? All the particles would be swirrling around endlessly.
I think of this quite a lot when I am tokin. Like a crazy plasma type creature that thrives in sunspots or something. Or a type of spaceworm that travels and feeds upon the magnetic properties of planets. Or maybe even a type of life-form that lives on gaseous planets, evolved to endure extreme gravity, but also less dense than the gas of the planet. Possibly even different densities so that there are different types of creatures as you go further into the depths of a gas GIANT.
I thought this was going to be a thread on extremophiles. I've always found viruses to be incredibly interesting... just enough genetic information to make a capsid for itself out of sometimes a single protein building block, that assembles in the most elegant fashion. It's remarkable. The T4 bacteriophage has to be the coolest thing on the microscopic scale: How is that not an alien!?
I most definitely agree that viruses are immensely interesting. A while back, after I learned about bacteriophages, I wondered if viruses could also be infected since they infect all other forms of life. I was blown away that there are giant viruses that can apparently get "sick" due to infection from smaller viruses. I think that is good evidence in favor of considering viruses alive. 'Virophage' suggests viruses are alive : Nature News
Now is it only a matter of time before we discover a large virus infected by a smaller one that is also infected by a smaller one? Who knows This is interesting to Prion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Virus is DNA, DNA makes protiens. Are protiens alive?

Both are hard coded to negatively impact the coding of our reality, and the computers reality. Electrical signals are sent to your brain to interpret information. Electrical Signals. Same type of electrical signal transmitted between computer hardware I slowly become more and more convinced of the existence of the matrix. What if we are nothing more than computer generated A.I. Recent scientific experiments have resulted in a robo coded with AI that is beginning to become self aware and acquire knowledge that was not hard programmed. Very neat stuff
Quantum Entanglement. I'm far too lazy type out a synopsis for you though. Look it up; wild stuff man, wild.
Thats interesting to think about. I remember seeing for the first time the different types of life that live in really uncharted deep as fk water, they reminded of something from out of space. I could imagine something similar looking in the universe not on a particular planet but floating through space like it was water. Also makes me wonder why there isnt. Why are we so special that for as far as we can see there is no other life forms.
I've read some hypothesis of quantum consciussness and stuff like that. When I read reviews of those same works by actual quantum phycistists they said it was all BS.
It is indeed awsoms Viruses aren't hard coded to be negative. Many viruses act symbiitically instead of parasitical Yup. We are still a long shot from true AI though. Our best supercomputers are at best retarded cockroaches. They seem smart because they are specialized to do.math. but they don't actually have that much computing power Be careful. You shouldn't be convinced that it does exist only tthat it can exist. We would still be the same. Just smarter Please post the article I know people.been working on different types.of AI for a while I like reading about it
