Extraction efficiency by proof

    Hello,

    Thanks for the add, great site and lots of good info.

    I have made a few bottles of Green Dragon with 191 proof alcohol. Works great. My favorite use is making canna sugar from the tincture.

    I would like to try to infuse a bottle of 80 proof alcohol. Maybe something more sipable?

    How much will the percentage of THC extracted be lowered by using a lower proof alcohol?

    Say a full 191 extract gives me 4000 mg THC, how much could I expect from an 80 proof extract?

    Why don't you add some of your 190 proof tincture to your 80 proof? You'll know exactly how much THC is in your sipping whiskey. I have no idea how much extraction you would expect with 60% water/40% alcohol..

    Thanks for the reply. I guess I could evaporate it down then add it to the 80 proof.

    Don't bother using 80 proof to extract. While it does work to some degree it really only gets about 20-25% as much as 151=190 proof gets.

    Place an eyedropper of your high proof super strong tincture into that shot of whisky. Done deal.

    Anything near a full shot, single beer, glass of wine. Gives me a blistering headache and I'm hangover the next day so I stopped drinking years ago.

    However I learned that in small amounts it doesn't bother me and while I can't suck down a beer this mini shooter works just fine. A knife tip of Kief and a couple eyedroppers of Tincture makes a very fine "Cocktail" :)

    Work up some spit before shooting an eyedropper of Tincture in your mouth.

    Embrace the burn.

    Thanks for the response. I am very new to the Everclear extraction, have been all butter and oil till lately. I am going to reduce my tincture by half to cut down on the amount needed to infuse.

    Right now I am at about 5 mg per ml.

    If you're at 5mg per ml. that's about a gram per oz. correct? What is your recipe for your tincture? How much bud vs. alcohol.,and how do you extract. Nosey old farts would like to know.,
    You'll want to decide how much thc you want per shot and make a tincture with the 191 that you will evaporate almost to tar and then add it to your 80 proof. it may separate and need a shake before pouring. Good luck and keep us posted.

    I wish I had 7-8 ounces to experiment with, using different alcohols, make them into different butters, etc... That'd be fun.
