  2. Hell yeah man, the extinct marsupials were insane! I saw a reconstruction of one of the gigantic echidnas that once lived here (not in the flesh, on a documentary), shit was enormous! Huge macropods too, carnivorous kangaroos and such.

    New Zealand had some crazy stuff too, birds filled all of the evolutionary niches in the absence of mammals. So they, until relatively recently, had enormous eagles which would be the equivalent of lions, with wingspans 10 metres across or something. The Maoris have stories about children being carried away and eaten...

  5. It's a shame Megalania is extinct, I'd love to see a monitor that big! But still, New Zeland had some awesome birds!
