Experienced growers with more than 5 years needed for advise

  1. This is my 5th year growing and this year I have decent money to put into it. My plants started flowering in the last 1-2 weeks. I was wondering how much you guys think I will yield this year. I was also looking for some advise on how to maximize the bid potential this year. I have had a bad habit of pulling too early. My plants are bubba kush, and zookies. It says they need 8-9 weeks of flowering. I calculated it out and I should start pulling around October 8th. Would anyone suggest going longer to let the buds get bigger? Also I have one plant that has been yellow since the beginning. It’s flowering pretty well but I want to know what caused this and how to avoid it in the future. My plants are average 6ft tall and some are up to 8ft tall. They are in 25 gallon smart pots and I give them 3-4 table spoons of nutrients every 2-3 days.

  3. Also I’m about to switch from fox farms tiger bloom to Hawaiian bud and Jr Peters jacks classic number 4 nutrients. I was wondering if I can use both of these together. JR says only once every 7-14 days and the Hawaiian bud says to use in the last half to final weeks of flowering every other watering. Could I use jacks for the next 2 weeks or so then continue using that every 7 or so days and give the Hawaiian bud nutrients every other watering?

  4. If you have any good advise I’d like to hear it. I shouldn’t have limited it to that.

  5. I’m sorry to everyone. I would appreciate all the help I can get. If I could edit it to take out the 5 years of experience I would.

  6. I know growers that have been growing far longer than 5 years and they don't know shit.

  7. I been growin off n on for over 5 years n still screw up grows. Went out of town few months ago n forgot to plug in fans grow space was 108* for days nuthin but fluffy buds rolled into joints or made into edibles for me. Last hope for the season is a outdoor plant that I hope to pull a half pound off of. Your plants look healthy I’d guess pounds easily, good luck with it.

  8. Later. Oct 15th to 30sth as long as it doesn't get to cold.
More support, the buds get heavy and they'll fall over the first wet spell.
Caterpillars and powdery mildew. Usual stuff

  9. Thank you sir. Yeah last year I fucked up. Left my brother to water and he ran away 4 weeks before harvest.

  10. Thank you. I was thinking about waiting until then. I’ll just keep an eye out on the weather. Any ideas why my one plant has been so yellow from the beginning

  11. Looks like you are in the NorCal foothills. Hard to say about yield. It all depends on what you use for bloom, if you are brewing tea, what you are using as a bud hardener, are you using CalMag? What is your ph? All that determines the quality and quantity. And hopefully you are spraying BT.

  12. I’m using these. They have all the minerals. My ph is 6.5

  13. 4th outdoor grow and still learning here, but I've learned patience is the key. I'd let those nugs get fat and nasty before pulling. I'm in Central CA and most plants around here are pulled right around Halloween. You may read about it being an 8 to 9 flowering stage, but I'd still let it go closer to 12. The waiting is the hardest part. Again, fairly new at this, but that's just my 2 cents. Good luck!!

  14. I feel 16-24 ounces
6 plants? Looks like 2-3 ounce average/ plant minimum. But there are so many factors. But in average sun. I cant see why 16-24 ounces isnt possible. Maybe more. Keep us updated!

  15. Strain specific. Grow long enough and you see all the variations from plants that don't lose a single fan and stay bright green to the end.
Down to plants that wind up just buds on bare sticks. Most finish somewhere in the middle ground and keep 1/2 the smaller fans although most will be yellowing as she nears harvest.

I just pluck the ones ready to pull off easy and let them ride. If you run that strain again you can try to alter her soil and add a heaver N loading up front. Usually if the rest of the plants are on track it won't make any real change in the look of that particular plant.

  16. Don't harvest because whoever sold you the seeds advertised a calendar date. Get a 10x magnifier and check trichomes. Wait till they start turning amber.

  17. Soil ph is right on the money, 6.5.

I dont stress as long as its between 6 - 7. some genetics do better with a little more acidity while others like less.

try to add buffers like dolimite lime and worm castings and avoid loading the soil up with salts. I go with full or close to full organics years ago and havent encountered ph problems or soil lockup since

its a little early for yellowing but they may of lacked enough nitrogen. The plants look great far as I can tell by pictures.

with fertilizers less is more, its better to under dose than over, especially at there current stage.

The biggest mistake a grower can make is forgetting to simply let plants be plants. meaning keep it simple and try not to fuss over them too much so they can do there thing.

Assist with maintaining ph if it needs it,and supply light and such.

i balance nutrients and gradually wean off veg nutrients halting them by week 3-5. it keeps them green until entering the second half of the blooming period.

Ive been growing mj for 15 years but I still managed to over do it with bat guano last year. i seen the onset of slight nute burn and experience saved them, I was able to flush the soil before things got bad and save my grow.

less is often better. at least until you become really familiar with a strain and become better at reading signs of over/under fertilization.

it keeps soil ph more manageable too should lockup issues arrise.

learning how to read plants comes with time. But also having a "green thumb" helps.

I too know ppl who have been growing for years and dont know shit. but think they do. despite having a batch of sickly looking plants.

moderation moderation, I cant stress that enough. theres a fine line between pushing fertilizers when plants appreciate a little more, and ruining a grow.

And never count the chickens until after they all hatch.

  18. if I were you Id grab some other ferts.

I wrote a lengthy post but the annoying server keeps rejecting it as spam ;(

Im using a stand alone bloom fert. no signs of yellow but it should begin fading in over the next 3-4 weeks.

I will try touching on points I had to edit out at a later time.

as for now things look to be right on schedule.
