---> Experienced Ebb & Flow Grower Needed<---

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by Mr.Greeny, Dec 11, 2012.

  1. So I have been growing for over five years now. I have always done top drip feeding and DWC. I am considering changing part of my setup to flood tables. Is there a big difference other than cost between black and white tables? I know white reflects more, but I can only find black Botanicare 4'x4' OD trays. They stopped making the white ones. Also, any other pointers will help out.
    Thanks!

  2. if u have the money go with the white, they do look clean!
i use the black and white treys. the only benefit that i know is that the black cost less.
ive used both black and white in diffident applications. pulled more weight from a white top feed, then a black flood and drain. of course i had variables from each grow that were difrent

  3. no significant gains have been made by switching to ebb and flow from DWC that ive ever seen. Why wast the time? aslo the tray wouldnt matter since youre SUPPOSED to be covering it with white/reflective mylar to prevent algea and Ph increase :)

    Ace420,
I know that DWC yields VERY well :)! What I was trying to do is cut down on my veg time. If I can yields the same off of a 32 plant table as I do with just three is DWC, then it would be worth it. From my understanding you can cut your veg time down to 7-10 days when you increase plant count and place on a table. I also hear that nugs are easier to trim from a SOG setup (more uniform buds). I don't plan on covering the tables with anything. My local pet store sells a product called AlgaeFix. It is safe on plants and I have been using it for years! Why would my PH increase without covering it? I've never grown in trays before.

  5. you use Algeafix on edibles?!?!?!? yeah Id stop that ASAP. Im glad youre not hurt (although Im pretty sure theres a warning on there for using it with NON consumed fish) but you should really consider covering the table with reflective mylar instead of using a chemical to stop algea growth/protect your roots. This will reduce heat, prevent having a chemical additive that may OR may not kill you at some point, AND increase light efficiency. Light that bounces back feed the plant more light energy :)

I see your point about the SOG thing. I suppose that would mean less time but more seeds huh? is the extra cost reasonable for all the extra plants ya think? Ive been toying with the idea of trying to get more yield out of my closet. Its not a neccesity but an obsession with efficency :)

oh forgot to mention, Ph increases when the the light is exposed to the resevoir water because it grows single celled algea which respire oxygen(cationic) while they use CO2(anionic). This change of ions raise Ph

I cant imagine you gettin 32 plant from E&F in the same space as 3 plants DWC:confused:

  6. I read the bottle and it doesn't saying anything about consumables. I will stop using ASAP until I contact there customer service. As far as cost of seeds, I would be cloning from my mothers. They would supply me with an endless amount of babies :)! I have always grown 2-3 DWC girls under each 1000 watt. I have been able to hit 2 elbows or real close to it every time. I have been told by several master growers that 32 plants will fit nicely on a 4'x4' table. You push them into flower real early, which in returns makes a canopy effect equal to that of three in DWC. Most lights on the market give a 4'x4' to 4'x6' foot print of light, which is perfect for light displacement across the canopy. I will be creating a journal when I get this up and running by the middle of January. You should sub into it when it's up and running. It's going to be a new learning curve for me. Now about covering the tables, would I stretch it across the top and make cut outs where my girls will be? I take I will be taping the panda film to the table at this point?

  7. Good looking out bro! Just called there customer service line and the dude cut me off and said "None of our products are for human consumption!". I just thought it was safe since the chemical breaks down in three days.

  8. glad youre not using that stuff anymore. Im always tempted to use it in my fish tank but my fish cant tell me if its messing them up. Just imagine, youve been burning it and INHALING it for years?!?!? AHHHHHH YOURE A ZOMBIEEEEE!!!!!

jk but seriously the mylar is however you want to put it on just to block light. Keep in mind you dont need an airtight seal. that many plants with that many roots will need SOME oxygen but not that much. I look forward to seeing this :D

  9. good looks on looking it up :) I didnt want to put in all those letters :D

so heres the thing, if you swallow it in small ammounts, your liver will filter it out with little side affect. But if you SMOKE it, it goes directly into your blood stream. This is the same reason why we need a liver to consume poisonous fremented alcohols. Without it, we'd be BOMBED by one beer. Want proof? pour a beer in your butt. Gross yes, but youll get DESTROYED :D

disclaimer: ive never tried these things
