Experience/Seniority with Smoking

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by chipcago, Nov 3, 2006.

  1. Hmm... Here's just a few thoughts.

I noticed a long time, something about smoking... Is seniority. Meaning, in general, how long one has been smoking in comparison to the others smoking with this person. Like for myself, I always looked up to my older brother, who introduced me to smoking. We still smoke together, and it's always the same routine for a session. He takes care of the glass and weed, and packs all the bowls- Because he has the seniority- I have respect for him in the way he packs, and know that he has that experience and practice to pack good bowls; he also gets greens on most bowls, simply because he's got that respect from me, and i understand that he knows how to get a good first light, getting a good cherry, etc.

So the less experienced smoker really always remains a less experienced smoker when smoking with the person who may have introduced them to smoking. The experience may not show in a smoke-out, but the less experienced smoker generally looks up to the experienced smoker, who gives tips on packing, rolling, hitting, and everything smoking: how to tell a kind bud from a piece of dirt, how to get a good rip, how to milk that big ol' 2 footer, etc.

If anyone's got anything to discuss regarding seniority and experience in smoking, throw it in here.

    Cheers.

  2. Ever since my brother introduced me to smoke about 2 years ago, I've remembered how I felt about him sharing this amazing thing with me, and I wanted people to feel that way about me, so I never turn down an oppurtunity to introduce someone to mary jane, it's a magical feeling when someone finally realizes the reason so many people smoke pot. It's great.

  3. Exactly, man. Thanks for your input. Yeah, I've introduced one or two people myself, and it's an incredible thing to share. I've decided the reason weed is pushed and pressured on people, is because we just want people to feel our pleasure!

The marijuana using community is truly one of the kindest.

    Cheers.

Edit: I also feel that this particular FORUM shows that seniority can be a part of the community (Seasoned Tokers)

  4. I feel you.

I started smoking around the same times as my friends, so we all had to learn how to roll by ourselves, and learn the ins-and-outs of smoking the sweet leaf.

We didnt have an older dude to teach us how to fix a canoo or anything, so we had to develop our own smoking habits.

Now we teach the young'ns the ins and outs of smoking, and pass on our good faith and stoner stories and advice.

  5. Right, man. And stories are a huge part of it. It's like... Ah, how can I relate it. Maybe to, ancient civilazations and stuff. They passed down stories, and trades, and techniques and ways of life to their young so they could continue traditions.

That's how I feel about stonerism. It's just something you pass on so it doesn't die out.

  6. heh so would this result in a smoke off between two experienced smokers to see who has seniority?

  7. man seniority in my group doesnt really matter. ive blazed the longest i think maybe a month or so difference but i just sit back and chill. i taught some of my buddies so they can all pack their own bowls and shit. its just best to let the people with the bud remain on top piece holder second and then house person third imo. but those are basicly the only reason for senioority in my place

  8. Heh, I introduced weed to a bunch of my friends right after I started smoking, so I became the senior figure, which was total crap because I didnt know any better than they did, I just pretended like I did.

  9. i know what you mean,
to some degree my friends and i all started getting more into weed at the same time, we had all smoked a bit before, but none of us really knew shit about it. the fun thing was, that we all had some source of outside knowledge to bring to the table. we all sort of mix our knowhow together and learn from eachother. one of my friends tought me how to roll all sorts of different joints, another friend of mine knew a lot about good weed (from blazing with major potheads) and weve all brought different kinds of pieces/homeades to the game, along with different ways of packing bowls and styles of sessioning.
i think its one of the more fun ways to smoke, when everyone gets to bring their knowledge to the table, but i know what you mean. My brother tought me a lot about weed, in the same sort of knowledge leech way. I just watched the way he dealt with bud and learned from him. good times.

  10. i guess, all i know is the best L rolla rolls the blunt, the dude with best bong packs the bong, whoevers bud it is, they spark it, dude with best bud get the money, and dude thats slicker with trig is the man standin up last
if u aint bout it bout it, get out the dope game

  11. I been smoking longer than all the people i smoke with. Im almost 19 and have been smoking for over 9 years.

  12. yeah man, I've definitely seen this in the different circles i've been a part of over the years, and when i go back to these circles, it's still the same. For example, the friend i smoked with the first time is always the guy when it comes to this shit. he taught me to roll, how to properly break down bud without a grinder, everything. In my most regular circle, we've all been smoking for about the same length of time, and everyone has their job. one guy's the designated blunt roller, cause he's the best at it, we've got 2 guys that can pack a bowl with zero light like nobody's business, and i'm the guy that rigs shit up, has the eyedrops, and if we're gonna be chillin somewhere for a while, the bubbler. since i got on this site, my knowledge has increased, and now i'm starting to notice a little jump in respect when it comes ot weed from these guys. excellent observation.

  13. This is also true with my friends. I just started smoking last summer when I was down at the beach with my pothead friend for a week. It was their I tried it and we did it everyday lol. After that we smoked when we could at home. I also met another great friend of mine who I admire dearly. I would love to post his name along with my other friends on here..but that probably isn't a good idea. Anyway, now all three of us smoked together all the time..and we did allll year. Now it's summer, theyre goin off to college (not far) , and I'm still in highschool. we dont chill as much but still do. Even now they have complete seniority and always have new stories to tell me, tips about tokin, etc. And I get soo much higher with them than i do with anyone else.. its crazy! Sorry this was so long im just stoned and like writing :p

  14. Yup, My bro was the first one who smoked me out, and he ALWAYS lights. I mean, if I asked him to let me spark I'm 100% sure he'd let me, but I don't 'cause it's kind of a ritual, and I have that kinda respect for him.

  15. Yeah I also have something like this. I was best friends with a guy a few years back then we went to different high schools but we met up again and he had been smoking longer than me. And he had tryed more than me. So he always gave me advice and now that you brought it up I saw it with him. He taught me to scrape for resin. And he showed me how to hit a killer gas mask. All those little tips. Actually just today he told me of using snow in the bong. So I did and it makes such a smooth hit. Another thing I'm thankful for him teaching me. He also taught me the sun glasses. You know. Haha. Yeah well that just my seniority expirence. Thought I would share.

  16. man, i been smokin constant everyday for a few years, about 5 years, somethin like that, i know a bit about cultivation too. but ya know if its one thing ppl do its talk like they know what the fuck is up. and most of the time its not the case. i just let ppl talk, conversate and say what they have to say and i just keep to myself and keep my life, my info and my well being and knowledge that these other ppl dont have to myself. i dont think seniority has nothing to do with it, its just wether or not your stuck up about things.

whoevers in rotation and most of the time who rolled the L or packed the bowl has any sort of authority over anything at that point in time, and gets respect. not about how long you been smokin or whos the coolest cause theyve been smokin for a good period of time.

    ppls opinions vary though.

  17. Well once my role model started smoking i startd smoking but i have never introduced anyone to smoking....idk why just never did but, for me its basicaly whoever suplied the weed gets green unless they are nice and give someone else the green hit.

  18. This is very true with me as well

  19. I never had a 'weed sensei'. I more or less discovered, bought, and smoked my first weed alone. But there's definately people I smoke with that know more than I do, and I respect them for it. In my usual group though everyone is pretty equal, I suppose.

I always let noobies get greens, since I want their first couple of experiences to be full-on and let them get the full taste. If they're new, I don't really mind if they fuck up the first hit. Nothing to get your pantys in a bunch over. The only way they'll learn is to do it and probably fuck up along the way.

I also massively respect anyone, new smoker or not, that can roll a good tight joint. I've smoked for years and have practiced many hours, and I just can't roll a J to save my life. My filangies just don't have that kind of dexterity, I suppose. But I think what a person can do shouldn't take center stage over what they know when it comes to smoking.

  20. When I started smoking, I had a "mentor." As the years went on, I Learned as much about MJ as I could from the people around me, but as it stands now, I'm alone. Because of this place (GC) I stand atop a peak of knowledge that cannot be matched. By anyone I know in flesh anyway. I take MJ a bit too seriously now, but it's nice to be able to educate those I smoke with.

As for the OT, Seniority always shows in my circle. But its usually the weed holder who calls the shots.:hello:
