Hello. I need some info from those who know what they're talking about a.k.a. you guys! I've grown only Afgani and C99 strains which are about the cheapest you can buy at 35 to 40 bucks for 10 seeds and the weed was really good despite my relatively poor setup of just 11000 lumens per three plants of flouros throught all stages of growth. I have also produced seeds of my own from those strains so I'll never run out of those two. : ) Does anyone think it is worth to get one of the more expensive strains such as possibly Armageddon, Super Crystal or white widow which seem to be more around the price of 90$ for 10 seeds. Then there are the $200+ for 10 seeds strains like big bud and Stonehedge. I mean how good could they be?? And why the heck do they cost that much?? : S Thanks!
White Widow owns. Out and out. I'm growing it right now. I've smoked it before and the buds are DANK! It's got so many trichromes that it seriously looks like someone poured sugar on it. Well worth the money.
I think they're worth it, if you're looking for certain characteristcs. White Widow, for one, gives you a very, VERY strong couchlock high. Certain strains stay low-growing or taste sorta fruity, things like that, if they matter to you, are worth paying big bucks for.
i'm almost done with my first grow with just bag seed. and while they are pretty sweet buds, i went ahead and purchased white widows from dr chronic just to see the difference. when it comes to quality weed, it's always worth it!
hmm. well then. I'm seriosuly considering getting atleast one or two of the more expensive strains to work with. afterall it's a one time purchase then you got seeds for the rest of your life i guess.
Each time you seed though, you weaken the genetics of the plant that you paid for. Taking clones and growing from those has three main benefits. The first is it cuts down on the growing time. The second is, as long as you are selective about which plant you decide to clone, you can 'enhance' your strain by choosing the strongest/most potent to be your mothers. Thirdly, you are guaranteed that nothing in the plant evolves and, under similar growing conditions, you can expect the similar results. In this manner you can find the preferred setup/approach for that strain. In addition, you can use clones to determine the sex, as well as having sensimilla (more potent bud). Seeds are only viable for a few years after they are produced. Mind you, if you have periods of down time in between your grows, then I suppose seeds are your best option.
If i was you and you want to spend $ then buy feminized seeds, this way you are not really gambling weather they are male or female and you are guaranteed bud, well 99.9% of the time the other 0.01% is for a hermy. I have bought feminized and believe they are worth the money.
Why is that? Where do you think the seeds you paid for came from in the first place? Other plants that made seeds. Successive generations can bring forth traits good or bad. But in general breeding a new generation does not automatically degrade the genetics. Look at humans --- we are all the by-product of ongoing breeding (no cloning -- yet) and we are the tallest, strongest, smartest, longest-living humans in history. I do agree with you other points about the benefits of cloning, all right on the mark.
Another thing - If you're looking for something like White Widow, but don't want to drop $70+, check out Nirvana. They have some really good strains for low price.
No one on this site ever talks about God Bud! In my opinion the best Damn strain. Its available from BC bud depot. However, I have herd of that place ripping people off. If you actually want to come to Vancouver You can get some seeds in person from a couple seed banks thats your best bet.
This is quite true, however, also much like humans, excessive inbreeding reinforces genetic defects. The seeds that you buy from a bank are generally grown from clones taken from a mother plant. These are then grown into flowering stage and selectively pollinated from a similarly cloned father.. In this manner, you can essentially have the same plant that puts out the same seeds for decades.
i have had god bud and it is the SHIT DIGGITY DANK IMO i agree with ya man i just wish i could get my hands on the seeds i only go with banks i trust and neither of them carry it
