I have two nice size stand up freezers I plan to grow in, I went with these because of stealth and they have locks. Only problem is I don't have anywhere to vent the exhaust, can't drill through the floors walls or roof of my house so what are some alternatives to this, I was thinking about hooking the exhaust line up to air purifier but I'm not sure. Also, how often should I run my fans and exhaust.
You should run your fans and exhaust continuously, otherwise it will get too hot. Plus plants need the fresh air. I have a smallish closet grow and I vent directly into the room that the closet is in (I have very high ceilings), then take in fresh air at the bottom. It's not ideal, but it's the only option that works for my space and it works fine. What's the plan with an air purifier? Do you mean like a carbon filter to control odors?
BYO, I think he's saying that he doesn't have anywhere to vent the exhaust once it's outside of the freezers, right yourboy?
if you get a carbon filter and then link the fridges on the outside. depending on the rooms size you should be able to keep them cooled and smell free but its gonna be obvius what you are doing in those fridges
Correct. The freezers are gutted and have 4 inch holes, at the bottom for intake at the top for exhaust, I just don't have anywhere for the exhaust to go after they are outside the freezers. I guess I could just exhaust it back into the room. They will be hooked up to carbon filters but I was just worried that venting the exhaust back into the room would make the air stale or whatever.
^word. Remember that the air in the room is circulating through the house. Crack a window open in the grow room on nice days.
also bear in mind if you actualy vent directly outside throgh a window. those heat detection cameras will detect the stream coming from your house where as if you went inside your whole house will be a degree warmer or something minor and there is no way to detect it.
You guys think I could ghetto rig up a wall thermostat to set off extra fans when the temperature gets too high. Kind of like a cap but cheaper
Sure. Or you could just put a big circulating fan in the room and let it run constantly, that's what I do. Simpler is usually better.
Ona= an odor neutralizing product. Google ona liquid or ona gel and you'll see. I think he thought you were having an odor problem.
Yeah I got the one with the skunk with a gun in his face, I think it was. How do I use it, just open the jar and set it in there or pour some the small gel things out in like a bowl or something?
you can do either it will work better if you put it in a bowl but will also not last as long. But if you use that as your primary odor control method you might wanna make a ona bucket
yourboy, I have a carbon filter as my primary odor control method but I also use the ona pro gel as back-up. I put some of the ona gel in a small jar, put plastic wrap (Saran wrap) over the top of the jar held in place with a rubber band, and poke little holes in the plastic wrap. I've got a couple of these scattered around the room that my flowering closet is in, and also a couple outside of my veg box. I don't use the ona directly in the tent/closet/box with the plants because I've heard that the plants can take on the flavor/smell of the ona.
Thanks for the help guys. Anyone know a good nutrition schedule to follow, I know it depends on what strain and what not, and I'm using fox farm trio pack and I know you can grow from start to finish in less time than their schedule says. I plan on doing a scrog and using bagseeds from some really good popcorn I used to get.
Also how much more do you have to water them as the weeks progress? I don't imagine you would dump a gallon of water on a seedling or a plant that's 2 weeks old, but I imagine a plant that's almost a month and a half old you would.
