  1. MIAMI -- A former Miami-Dade County police officer has pleaded guilty to stealing marijuana and cash from a motorist during a traffic stop. Jesus Rodolfo Hernandez was sentenced Thursday to 30 days in jail. He also must give up his law-enforcement credentials. Prosecutors say Hernandez pulled over a confidential informant in April, arresting the man for a traffic violation and stealing $575 in cash and the drugs from his pocket.

Hernandez pleaded guilty to grand theft, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence. He will also spend two years on probation and must pay back the nearly $25,000 it cost to investigate and prosecute the case. An attorney for Hernandez could not immediately be found for comment.
