It's hard to explain. I get weird zig-zagging light patterns in one eye. For some people they are accompanied by an actual migraine, but I just get the weird visual disturbances. It usually lasts for about 20-30 minutes and then goes away as if nothing happened. It doesn't happen to me often- maybe once a year/every two years- and they are harmless. Just really fucking annoying.
Be careful what you wish for. It's not as fun as it sounds. ETA: yes... that's very much what it looks like. Except a lot more sparkly!
I get INTENSE migraines, to the point where even weed hurts my head to smoke. Causes that I found out trigger mine are: Lack of sleep Lack of Caffeine Staring too much at any screen for TOO long.
What about it is not fun?? I understand it's an annoyance, but if it's possible that it can be done consciously then you can consciously stop it. So weird, I've never heard of this EDIT: I'm guessing your neurons are not sending messages correctly. A lot like tripping on certain psychedelics we can't mention here. This fascinates me
I had one earlier in the week, Penelope... IT SUCKED. I had to wear sunglasses around the house cuz lights were too painful to be intimately involved with.
If you really want to try it out, stare directly at your camera's flash and fire it off 10-15 times. The effects will be quite similar. If you don't have a camera, stare at the sun for a while.
I believe these are called "auras" and the are a symptom and or warning sign of an oncoming migraine. I've had some issues with migraines, and with the oral medication they give you (that didn't work for me) you are supposed to take it as soon as you have these "auras" because they signal the onset of a full blown migraine. For me, they came on too fast and I throw up uncontrollably so ingesting a medication doesn't fly. They gave me a nose spray that burned like hell, but if used as soon as my vision starts tweaking, they can ease the migraine to a functioning point.
I've never had an actual migraine headache, so I shouldn't complain too badly. I just get the weird visual disturbances that last for 5-30 minutes or so, and then it goes away and I feel fine.
i've been dealing with migraines for like 3 years now, Shit sux man. I have no idea what to do really, i can't live a normal life because of it. I wake up fresh in the morning and in 2 hours i'm feeling like absolute shit.
From the sounds of it I've never had an occular migraine, but I get terrible migraines that I feel right behind both eyes. I usually get very sick and throw up, and one time I even blacked out from the pain while walking. I have a prescription for Imitrix but it only works if you take it while the migraine is coming on. If you already have it, it doesn't help you.
The first time I ever had a migraine I had to go into urgent care and they gave me a shot of imitrex. I was violently ill. Then they gave me the oral, which I just threw up, then the nasal that worked, but like you said, only works if you take it BEFORE the migraine strikes.
