Sometimes a good song is just a good song....spoken with passion. My title is the question and just curious to hear what some of you think.
Hey that's all good. Definitely not for everyone. Thanks for the reply just trying to gain perspective. Peace friends.
I guess my curiosity stems from the fact that this is someone from my town and I also grew up poor, a lot of us did, I just chose not to get involved with those things. Ironically I prefer the beatles or some oldies. But for some reason I understand this completely? Just really intriguing because this is the opposite of my lifestyle ( I wear a bow tie to work, lol ). But when I disregarded the accent and slang I just kind of tried to understand the point and was a little intriguing..made sense strangel. I dunno, just high. I don't even care for rap which made me want to survey a few others.
I listen to rap and I am a big fan of it from wu tang through to modern rap. But no offence I thought this song was garbage. Its was just another stupid ass white person trying to rap. Sent from my A0001 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
That guy was pretty laughable. Musical no..... talentless and laughable like a bad clown in a cheap circus , yes
It's not, friend haha. Someone I grew up in the same circles with. No offense taken from anyone it was just a personal census from a curious musical stand point. Everyone is different. The lyrics aren't always on beat I just feel a very strong message when you imagine growing up in a different way. Bless! On a side note, just to reiterate I'm only curious if people who aren't fans of this type of thing could understand the message and whether or not they feel that it's passionate. That's all.
I'm not the biggest rap fan. I do like some. If this guy had a message it was lost in the bad music and terrible lyrics. He seemed more "look at me I'm a big shot wanna be, dooooggggggg" rather then passionate about anything. Passionate about a really sad personal image maybe
I'm not a fan of most rap. To me, rap is 90% lyrics and 10% music. I'm not saying that as a bad thing, I just mean that the lyrical content is the main focus in rap. And as for what's important to me, I'd weigh it out as 99% music and 1% lyrics. I couldn't tell you a single line from most of my favorite songs, because I just don't listen in to lyrics. For me the emotion comes from the instrumentation, not the lyrical content. I like the human voice as an additional instrument, but I generally don't care what they're saying. Plus with rap, the voice isn't used musically insomuch as it's used rhythmically. I am a fan of a lot of metal and 'screaming' style vocals, but to me there's still an emotion in that which I personally don't get out of most 'rap' vocals. But to each their own. Many people would hate much of the music I like, and that's fine. I love music because it can be a very personal experience, and the only important part is whether or not you like it.
I'm not really into rap/hip-hop that much. The reason being is that to me the genre seems very repetitive and it's lyrical themes can sometimes be very demeaning to women which goes against my political ideology and life philosophy. To me it seems 90% of rap is gangsta style orientated so the small amount of hip-hop I do listen to is alternative hip-hop such as trip hop (Massive attack, Lana Del Rey (certain songs)), cloud rap (various artists) and political hip hop (Public Enemy). There still are some gangsta rap songs I like, but very few, for example NWA - Fuck Tha Police.
